COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Only the 2008 vintage is stored here. There’s separate listings for older vintages. They are stamped with bottling date, which should be used to determine the correct vintage. Also, the 2008 vintage has a different label than the previous editions, with Easter Island statues visible. (vintage 2009 is the same recipe as 2008, and the beer hasn’t been brewed in 2010.)

500ml bottle. No information besides that...a rarity for this brewery! Hazy amber body, with a big, ’Belgian’ style off-white head in a Duvel glass...which seemed somewhat fitting. Aroma is quite interesting; spicy, vanilla, caramel malt, somewhat subdued. Body is full, creamy, good carbonation, alcohol very well hidden. Flavour really suprises me, the aroma doesn’t allude to such complexity; rich toffee, dark fruits, plenty of vaniilla and clove spice, and then some! Some roasted notes of cocoa and wood join quite a lingering finish of more spice, bitterness is low and somewhat takes a backdrop to spice overall. I actually thought this beer was spiced in itself, but its really just a result of characterful yeast. Very nice beer overall!

Heavy malty aroma. Huge, creamy, off-white head. Excellent lacing. Fully lasting longevity. Cloudy, orange body. Heavy bitter malty flavor. Light to medium palate.

500mL bottle. (Thanks to lagomswedish). Batch 331, brewed 051207. Pours medium amber with a fairly large off white head that persists until the final sip. Aroma is yeasty, with some clove, spice and perfume notes. Wheat and yeast come through in the flavor, along with caramel malt, clove and other spices. Long, wheaty finish. Nice beer.

austone (1062) - Turku; Pori, FINLAND - MAY 28, 2009
Bottled at BH, Pori. Murky reddish brown, huge foaming beige head. Strong belgian yeasty nose, chalk, rotten fruits, faint honey. Kinda messy flavor with earth, peppery spiciness, some old fruits, licorice root, little molasses & leather. Medium bodied, slightly hollow, dry palate. So it’s a Belgian-style ale, just not a really good one.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with a good coffee coloured head. Some lacing as it falls away. Big caramel malt aromas with plenty of dark fruit, alcohol and yeast spiciness. Flavours of malt sweetness and more of that yeast spiciness on the finish. great beer

Beerheart65 (1005) - Pori, FINLAND - JUN 20, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2012 Aroma has herbs and citrus and caramel malts. Yeast is belgian like to me. Hazy brown with really big beige frothy head. Crisp palate. Lively carbonation. Creamy texture. Medium bodied. Taste has herbs and spices. Overall lots of flavors and nuances.

Maris (1000) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - NOV 10, 2010
From a 500ml bottle 0n 9/11/2010. Batch number 388. Brewed on 15/10/2008.Best before 15/10/2013. Pours dark orange, almost amber, and cloudy. Has an aroma of dark fruit, alcohol, some toffee, and a bit of basement like yeast. Flavours are caramel and fruit (apples) and a noticeable dash of alcohol. Moderately sweet with a firm bitterness. Has a sligthly oily texture. Quite a subtle Belgian ale. Decent but not remarkable.

Mortlach (970) - Rome, ITALY - FEB 11, 2012
25/06/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al Nøgne Ø Beer Festival. Color arancia, intenso e lievemente torbido, buona schiuma biancastra poco persistente. Aroma intenso di malto caramellato, con lievi note speziate e luppolate. Sensazioni confermate in bocca, con in più una nota acidula nel finale. Corpo medio, carbonazione abbondante. Un po’ anonima e deludente. Tra le peggiori birre della serata.

Bottle. Pours dark, slightly reddish brown with a fluffy beige head that lasts ages. Aroma has notes of biscuity malt, caramel, spicy yeast and some dark fruit. Flavour is similar with the malt and caramel up front and the spice, yeast and fruit at the back. Medium body with a dry mouthfeel and a long, slightly bitter, finish. Very good beer, well balanced and expertly put together.

Bottle. It looks so good, amber colour with huge and long lasting pale yellow head. Taste and aroma can´t quite match the look. Hoppy aroma and the malts with notes of dates and toffee, nice but could be a little more dominant. Taste sweet malts and some underlaying dry hoppiness Could be a little more complex.
