3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours black with a thin beige head and a very smoky treacle aroma. There is a charcoal and dark molasses flavor that sticks to the palate. A bit too smoky for me, otherswise not bad.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black, with the slightest red tint and a thin dark tan head.
Scent is rich, sweet malts, charcoal, dark fruit, light smoke and peat.
Taste is semi-sweet, slight caramel, more fruit, a little chocolate.....
Not overly smoky, just a bit at the back of the throat. Quite good.
Very smooth and slick. Dry.
As a smoked, it’s pretty mild, but for overall taste, it’s quite excellent.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
25/05/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Davvero molto buona.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Scopey’s CBC Tune-Up. The appearance is deep brown in color with a small, tight tan head. The nose is very smoky. The aroma’s plenty of bacon and roasted ham, some charred wood. The taste is much the same – quite smoky, heavy ham with hints of dark fruits on the long sweetish finish. Light/medium body. The carbonation is soft. Overall, it’s a decent smoked beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at my Pre-CBC Tune-Up Tasting, thanks to jackl. It pours dark brown, with a thin foamy beige head. The nose is roasted malt, caramel, varnish, filter coffee, salted liquorice and only a touch of smoke. The taste is caramel, roasted malt, smoke (but only a touch), peat, charcoal and toast, with a dry, smoky finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Finally I got to taste a "local" brew. Erlann Eldorsen, the winner of the Norwegian homebrewer’s championship 2011, is from my hometown Bodø and have been homebrewing for many years. The beer pours a deep redbrown colour with a small light beige head. An undeniably smokey aroma with tar and leather. Has a nice and round smokey touch in the flavour as well, with some fruit, leather and wood. A slick mouth feel, and medium bitterness. This is a fantastic, well balanced, and easy drinking beer.

50 cl bottle at Haket, Göteborg, on April 27, 2012
BB 13.08.11, Batch 677
Looks pretty much black in the light available, big lasting tan head. Malty, sweet, lactic, straw, smoke, char coal, a hint of licorice scent. Malty, sweet, smoke, licorice, char coal taste. Dry, charcoal aftertaste. Sort of moussy mouthfeel, though with a distinct dry finish. Medium high dry bitterness.
