6 % alc/vol, 32 IBU, is a Rauch Beer lager brewed in the true Bamberg tradition. Smooth, assertive and well balanced. This beer was the winning recipe from the Norwegian homebrewer’s championship in 2011. We appreciate the fact that Erlann Eldorsen came to brew with us! Ingredients: Pilsnermalt, peated malt, crystal malt, Munich malt, hallertau and Tettnang hops, German lager yeast and Grimstad water.

13.03.2012. 0,5l Bottle. Batch 677, BB 13.08.2013. Vertshuset Skarven, Tromsø. Black colour with a thin layeres white head. Aroma is dry bitter with notes of smoke. Not very heavy but smooth, nice and very well balanced with the rest of the flavours of the beer. Very distinct flavours of burnt malt and sugar guves the beer a kind ox whiskey touch. Bottle at Tilt Dark brown body, light beige big head. A shy smoky aroma, with roasted malt, hops. Not much smoke in taste, but the grassy hops combined with malts and chocolate is still enogh to make this an enjoyable beer.

In bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a lacy tan head. Aroma of caramel and a little smoke. Interesting flavours of smoked fish, toasted barley, burnt toast and plum pudding. Moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Mild CO2 prickle and a smoky, chocolately linger. Nice.

(16.9oz bottles). Pours dark brown, almost black with a creamy tan head. Aroma has plenty of smoke, rye/pumpernickel, some hay or grass. Taste is semi-sweet with a some bittering hops that peek out after the smoke clears. Medium bodied and oily. Bitter finish. Not a bad version and quite drinkable.

Pours mahogany into an English pint. Tan head recedes leaving spider lacing. Bacon and charcoal aromas. Thin with sweet maple smoked bacon upfront turning to caramel before the lasting smoky resin finish.

Bottle from Sun Devil. Pours mahagony with a trim beige head. Smells and tastes predominantly of smoked malt, flour, apple skins, and hops. A bit dry on the midpalate, but a nice exemple of the style.

500ml bottle. Mahogany with a slim, fine-moussed beige foam. Nose of blackcurrant, berries and lemon zest mingled with smoked ham, urea and decaying leaves. Quite a combo- would have a job working out what the hell is going on blind. I’m not so sure with the blinkers off; solid chocolatey malts, blueberry, apple peel yeastiness and a dash of rauch vying for attention. Bizarrely unsmoked for a smoked- no more so than any number of weird English bottled bitters. Soft lactic tone, some off-kilter TCP and ink notes in the blender, good blackcurrant and lemon hop. Decent beer but would prefer the smoke taken up a notch. Or three.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Batch 677. Dyp amber. OK luftig, litt farget skum som fester seg til glasset. God røykaroma med innslag av krydder. Myk munnfølelse, Smak av røkt torv. Ikke påtrengende. Litt syrlig. Tørr syrlig ettersmak. Avslutter tørt. Godt balansert. Et "snilt" røykøl. Mye sedimenter igjen i flaska.
