Milder Beginn mit nur leichter Rauchigkeit. Erfrischend, zu trocken. Auch im Mittelteil zu mild, die Raucharomen sind hier ehr noch geringer. Dunkelmalziger Abgang. Schade! 10/9/8/8/10/8

Very well done. Chocolate and caramel in the aroma. The flavor is sweet with a hint of smoke. Very well balanced with a lively mouth feel.

Well really an excellent beer one of the best smoked brews I've ever had. Chord with a nice tan head a little lace and a very dark brown almost opaque color. Aroma is roast a little smoke malts hint of coffee and cocoa. Flavor is like aroma, plus has a little sour and carbonic tang that normally I don't like with smoke beers but here it works quite well. Body isn't as lush as I might have expected for this style of beer but actually it works better and makes it quite drinkable.

Bottle: Very dark brown, nearl black color, coffee-brown creamy/foamy head. Aroma is smoky malt, milder then Schlenkerla for example. Flavor is also malty, light sourly, roasty, dark chocolate, cacao, mild smoke.

Bottle - Smoke, peat and some light booze. Dark brown with a rich head. Light smoke and a pale malt sweetness.

Aroma - not impressive for the style - a little smoke, burnt sugar, toffee, and peat
Appearance - very dark brown, with an off white wisp halo
Taste - taste has more smoke than anything, peat and caramel are also present.
Palate - a medium body, texture is thick, peaty finish
Could be that Schlenkerla spoiled me, and I’m trying to have something measure up to it, but this just seemed lacking. What I will say is that it was closest in taste to Schlenkerla’s Rauchbier Marzen. Not bad, but ultimately forgettable.

Bottle @ Greg’s apartment, picked up in StL I believe. Pours a dark brown appearance with a creamy brown head. Light smoke, chocolate, herbal hoppy, caramel aroma. Pretty thick malty, chocolate, roasty, peat smoky flavor with a bit of ash and swamp on the finish.

On tap at Capones. Pours a dark brown color with a small white head that settles to a ring and leaves very little lacing. The aroma is smoke, a bit of roast, and a little bit of bacon. Initial taste has a bit of sweetness with some smoky and woody flavors. The finish has a bit of ash and is quite drying. Medium body and medium carbonation.
