There is a long story to this malty ale. It was first brewed in the spring 2006 in Nørrebro Bryghus in Copenhagen, Denmark, as a joint brew between Nøgne Ø and Nørrebro. Nørrebro calls their version “Double Knot Brown”. It is the perfect thing to drink with almost any cheese.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/50°F. Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, brown, amber, Munich and caramel malt; Columbus, Chinook and E K Golding hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

0,5l bottle @ Apotekergaarden, Grimstad. Pours deep brown with a tan head. Aromas of vanilla, raisins and chocolate. Same for the flavors. Not as bitter as I would expect. A good brown ale!

Bottle in the Town Street Tavern, Horsforth. Pours a chestnut colour with a thin cream head. Starts off sweet with a little spice, red fruit before a nice chocolatey finish. Vey good.

Great, "cola-like" appearance, nice head, gorgeous lacing. Aroma of hoppy resin, coffee, toffee, chocolate and nuts. Great taste. One of the best brown ales I’ve ever drunk.

Bottle: Served in a Duvel glass: Hazy brown beer with a small head. Nose is mostly malts with some hints of caramel, coffee and toast. Good coffee flavour (but not to strong), also malts, caramel, toast (light roast), some bitters, light dry and even some malty sweetness while not that sweet at all. Very well balanced! A bitter, toasty, caramel ish/more malty aftertaste with a light smokey/mocha touch. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, more than medium balanced and a creamy texture. Very well balanced which makes it more of a pleasure to drink and quite an easy drinker as well. Nice!

Pours deep brown with tan head. Aroma is loads of sweet toffee, roasted malt and some sweet chocolate tones. Round and sweet palate. Aftertaste is more toffee, sweet, caramel and a nice noble hop bite. Overall: What a beer! Well made!

Bouteille 50cl, batch# 1111, BB 21/01/2017, bottled 21/01/2014.

bottle from liquorland Tga. An unexpected find. Brewed 08/2011 & Best Before 2016. Believable - was tasting good 3 years in. Ale is dark brown, nearly porter colour. Good fluffy head. A little sediment. Looking and smelling intriguing though. Good hops make taste reasonably lively, despite low carbonation. nice soft malt flavors run though also - nutty & caramel being most evident. Looking forward to more Ol from Norge!

Hoppy nose with lot of dark malts notes. Chocolate, nuts, cocoa and caramel. In taste there’s nice tuned cooperation of notes recognizable usually in IPA’s and Stout’s: roasted black malts and medium, well fitted bitter finish.Creamy and smooth body - like a liquid desert!
