The best beer i have ever tasted in my life, this beer is just perfect. Sweet taste of malt, dark foam, dark brown cloady color to the beer and the taste is just amazing, tastes strong ale, very good, dark taste to it, and as you swallows, its just like getting an orgasm in your throat.

In bottiglia da P P Ale di Roma. Colore marrone scuro tendente al nero, schiuma beige. Al naso tostato dominante ma anche note affumicate, al palato tostato intenso, generosa luppolatura, finale leggermente affumicato, amaro. Corpo medio, carbonatura perfetta.
Da provare e riprovare.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
50 cl bottle. Ordered a box about 12 bottles of this wonderful beer, shared with a good friend and my father.
This beer has a wonderful mouth-feel and a aroma from hell. No kidding here! This is one of the best beers you can enjoy from the nordic countries. Well then, to the taste, very much butterscotch and fudge in the taste with a slightly bitter nose. Excellent!

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle 500ml from the local taphouse. Great malty strong ale. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, rum, dark fruit, oak, and cereal. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is velvety, and full bodied. Brown, with a frothy head.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours dark brown with a tan head. Thick dark roasted malt aroma of coffee and alcohol. Chocolate sweetness and caramel finish. Medium body and well balanced dose of hops to tie it all together.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Very malty brown with caramel undertones. Doesn’t come across as big as the name suggests, meaning the imperial notation is nicely relaxed and not in your face. Highly recommend.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: MAR 17, 2009 500ml bottle. Deep, dark mahogany colour with nice reddish head. Very rich appealing aroma of malt, caramel and grass. Flavour is also very rich and warm. Plenty of malt with a balanced element of roast, hops, nuts, coffee and dried prunes. A long pleasant finish with a warming hint of alcohol. A fabulous beer.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 20, 2008 Interesting beer. Aromatic hoppy taste and with chocolate, toffee and fudge. I hope I will get the chance to try this again. Another fantastic brew from one of Scandinavias best breweries!
Update: This beer is almost perfect. I mean, this is so... everything is so delicous. I’m excited. Best one from Nøgne Ø. Perfection. Taste is so excellent and mouthfeel is so thick. I love it. I have four bottles left at home. I hope I can save them for a while, but I’m not sure I manage to not drink it before the summer.
Update, again: This is definitely one of the best beers from Nøgne Ø. Aroma of chocolate, fudge and some hops. Flavour is quite sweet and malty with notes of fudge, chocolate, toffee, roasted malt and aromatic hops. Palate is very, very smooth and the liquid is quite thick. Really cool beer! Though I’ve had better ones from Nøgne Ø... maybe I got a bit tired on this one after drinking 5-6 bottles in a few months this spring?

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours with a very dark, somewhat amber color, culminating in a tall and resilient tan head that laces very well. The aroma is wonderful: dark chocolate, coffee roasted malts, caramel. The medium-textured mouthfeel is accompanied by a complex array of flavors that match the aroma profile. While this beer style is sometimes rather boring in taste, Nøgne Ø’s hop selection really makes this a first-rate beer, and somewhat memorable at that.
