COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial DunkelWit from Nøgne Ø is an attempt to combine the best of many brewing cultures. Indeed we hope to please the Belgian ale partisan, the dark ale enthusiast, as well as those who love big ales with this one product. That is a tough ambition. At least we had fun brewing it...... Ingredients: Grimstad water, wheat, malted barley, coriander, orange peel, hops and yeast. 24*P, 25 IBU

Very strange beer. Pours dark purplish black with white head. Nose is red licorice, Bazooka Joe bubblegum and medicine. Taste is similar with light fruits. No hint of alcohol even though it’s 10% abv. It’s very close to drinking straight cough medicine.

Pours dark brown color with tan head. Aromas of orange peel, corriander and wheat. Sweet and boozy with corriander and some medicinal flavors. Medium to full body with soft carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel.

Pours deep mahogany into a weiss glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Sweet corriander and clove aromas. Full and sweet with upfront raisins and dates turning dry and slightly hot in the lasting apple spice finish.

Aroma of caramel, hops and roasted toffee. Appearance is murky brown with light tan head. Flavor matches the nose, with some spiced hop character. Palate is lively. Strange. Maybe I just don’t get it.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle at a recent tasting. The beer pours a light brown color with a white head. The aroma is very odd, smelling exactly like fruity pebbles. The aroma is similar, as if you dropped a couple of sticks of licorice into a bowl of fruity pebbles breakfast cereal. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not sure if this is what the brewers intended, but it is interesting.

Thanks Skyview!!

Appearance: Pours an iced tea brown with a foamy gathering of head.

Aroma: Lime lollipop.

Taste: Sage, bread crust and wood.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation.

Overall: One of the best beers I tried in a long lineup of stuff I dried at 2010 DarkLordDay.

Thanks to Skyview’s generosity at DLD. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Dark fruit aroma, with tons of spices. I found it hard identifying all of them-coriander, orange pell, so many others. Taste was like the aroma, only magnified. The carbonation pushed the flavor throughout my mouth.

Nose has some coriander and honey. Flavor is quite sweet with brown malt, bergamont and cereals.
