COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial DunkelWit from Nøgne Ø is an attempt to combine the best of many brewing cultures. Indeed we hope to please the Belgian ale partisan, the dark ale enthusiast, as well as those who love big ales with this one product. That is a tough ambition. At least we had fun brewing it...... Ingredients: Grimstad water, wheat, malted barley, coriander, orange peel, hops and yeast. 24*P, 25 IBU

Awesome beautiful stongle belgian ale. No head at all what so ever, much better that 4th edition when ot comes to palate. Note of coffee and toffee on the aroma, with sweet Coffee and chocolate hints. No clwar taste of alcohol qt all. One of the top five beer I’ve had ever.

0,5 l bottle. Pours clear dark red brown with a large tanned creamy head. A fantastic aroma which is so comprehensive that it’s really hard to dissect it all. Passion fruit, apricot, syrup, berries, perfume, alcohol, coriander... Fresh and inviting!. Although the initial impact of the beer is a bit overwhelming, the transition to a more subtle phase is quick. Tastes sweet and light bitter with the alcohol well hidden, hints of coriander. Long after taste of roasted caramel and cardamom. Medium bodied. Smooth. Definitely recommended! Looking at earlier ratings it would seem like the draught version was nothing like the bottled version. (By recommendation of bartender and brewmaster of Haandbryggeriet at Olympen, Oslo. 13.1.2010.)

Thanks Skyview!!

Appearance: Pours an iced tea brown with a foamy gathering of head.

Aroma: Lime lollipop.

Taste: Sage, bread crust and wood.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation.

Overall: One of the best beers I tried in a long lineup of stuff I dried at 2010 DarkLordDay.

.5L bottle. 10% ABV. Dark brown color, light tan head. Loads of fruity pebbles cereal in the nose. Lots of coriander, and orange peel scent. A Yankee candle, but a good one. Long legs running down the glass. Thick bodied, and whoa strong. Well balanced flavor, dark malt, sweet, and nice floral fruit essence in the finish. Very strong and even more flavorful than anticipated. (3625)

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2011 Tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Hazy brown color, almost no head (beige). Aroma is coriander, a bit acidicity and oak. Flavor is spicy (coriander, anis), orange peel, moderate sweetness, a bit vinous, yeast, oak, hops and alcohol. Moderate carbonation. Lots of tastes, but not in balance. Strange beer, indeed. 8-2-7-3-14=3,4. Re-rate, bottle (batch #439): Balanced after 1,5 years in bottle. Lovely.
