COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial DunkelWit from Nøgne Ø is an attempt to combine the best of many brewing cultures. Indeed we hope to please the Belgian ale partisan, the dark ale enthusiast, as well as those who love big ales with this one product. That is a tough ambition. At least we had fun brewing it...... Ingredients: Grimstad water, wheat, malted barley, coriander, orange peel, hops and yeast. 24*P, 25 IBU

Bottle. Brownish black beer with a fairly strong head. The aroma is malty with some fruity yeastiness, and the flavour is sugary sweet with maltyness and a gentle bitterness. Overall a good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown body under a light tan head. Sweet malt aroma, some spice. The flavor is sweet without being cloying. Some spice. Estery.

Not sure what glass you would serve a Imperial Dunkelwit in so I chose my thistle. Mahogany with ruby highlight topped by an attractive head and lace. Lovely flowery and lightly spiced character on top of a bed of dark sweet bread sprinkled with brown sugar. Faint orange peel and malt chocolate too. Oh I would be remissed not to say something about the fleet birch syrup, and seemingly woody notes that gives a quick undertone of a quality birch beer. She is a keeper (and has been aged for close to two years).

Draft at Rattle n Hum. Pours deep amber with a thin off white head. Sweet fruity base, with spicy yeast, coriander, caramel malts, a spicy yeasty finish, and a hint of booze. Not bad.

Lots of coriander with great citrus flavor. Pours dark with good head and lacing. Comes together very nicely, a great mix of a weizenbock with extra coriander the German beer laws wouldn’t normally let fly. Finishes with light sweetness, full palate. Tap at Churchkey.

Draft at Churchkey for a meet the brewer event. Poured a hazy brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was a wit all the way - lots of wheat, grain, coriander notes. Flavor was, at least for me, pretty distinct dunkel notes - lots of wheat. This was very bold and very enjoyable.

4oz pour at Churchkey’s Nogne O Tap Takeover. Pours a deep, raisiny brown with some spitty, white head. Nose has soap, raisins, mint, wheat, mild clove, a little laundry detergent. Flavor is a little better, sweet, lemon lime soda, raisin, orange, soap, straw, caramel, some breakfast cereal. Basically a full bodied finish. Sounds strange, but I was digging it.

500ml bottle. Cola mahogany with a thinning yellow beige head becoming a halo. Intensely aromatic Belgian aroma of fruit jellies, candied peel, perfumed coriander and Keith’s coriandered homebrew: literally a 5% kit bitter bottled with date expired ground spice out of the back of the cupboard. Dangerous Belgian flavour (bonus point); all yeast, spice, perfumed Cointreau and madness. Huge orange. Entirely likeable if completely one-dimensional and a bit demented.

Dark brown, slightly transluscent. Some liquorice in aroma. Lots of coriander and aftertaste

Pours dark brown, not cloudy at all. Aroma is strong coriander and spice. getting excited to take a sip. Flavour is completely unexpected. Very mild wheat, coriander is dominating in the flavor almost spicy. At the same time, smoothness is not lost and there is no hint of booze at all. Overall a confusing yet amazing experience.

Bottle shared at the Tuesday Night Horal Chugging Tasting - many thanks to Colin. Pours cloudy amber with a tight, off-white froth head. Nose of light lime and bread. Big sweet flavor, very floral, with further lime, bread and yeast. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Sweet finish with floral bitterness, light dough, more lime. Weird. Tastes nice, but it is odd.
