Nothing is like celebrating your own milestones. This is a celebration of our 500th batch of ale. It was brewed with joy and splendor; the brewer wore a suit, and a TV station filmed the event. As a base for this ale, we have elected to play with numbers: 5 hops, 100 IBUs, 10% alcohol by volume. Indeed it is an Imperial India Pale Ale. Big and bold. Great for a celebration!

500ml bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, May 15, courtesy of Paolo. Caramel / fruity hop aroma. Taste is concentrated hops with a lovely tropical fruit character. Strong and balanced taste. Nogne can really do no wrong.

Bottle. Sensoric. Deep copper, medium hazy with medium, light brown head. Godd lacing. Poor head retention. Nice sweet, ripened fruits aroma, strong caramel notes, medium citrus hops aroma. Taste is sweet, caramel, with nice medium to high bitter notes, which appears from the middle of degustation. Full body, soft carbonation, oily and sticky texture, finish is medium bitter. In general caramel loaded DIPA with nice hoppy notes, but not perfectly balanced. It could be more hoppier. Highly drinkable.

Nose: Hops, coriander and white pepper. Taste & palate: Rich, creamy, lots of spicy, bitter hops which is nicely balanced by the (sweet) alcohol and richness. Very long, spicy hops aftertaste. Conclusion: Rich, bitter, balanced, massive. But just a bit one-dimensional. Would love to revisit this after 3-5 years of bottle ageing.

On tap at Erzbierschof. Pours almost clear amber. Lots of caramel and a bit of citrus aroma. Very umami taste, almost salty. It seems that strong Nøgne Ø beers are not my style.

Dark orange-amber color with white head. Citrus, caramel, lots of booze. Taste is very heavy, boozy, more caramel and hops. Like #100, this one’s crazily heavy, but not bad! It’s not as well-balanced though.

WYGLĄD: Barwa bursztynowa, opalizujące. Piana drobne, średniej wysokości. Oblepia szkło.
AROMAT: Intensywny. Żółte, słodkie owoce. Zapach marakui i ....mirabelki!!!. W tle nuty kwiatowe.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2015 Cloudy golden brown appearance with almost no head. Full bodied with tastes of toffee, vanilla, nuts, caramel, alcohol, raisin and wood perfectly balanced with a great hoppy aftertaste.

Visual: Their signature plain label with just the Ø, but the true excitement is inside. Pours murky root beer brown with a very small head, a thin layer of micro retention, a few micro slow streams here and there. Nose: aromatic caramel+toffee sweet malt (lvl-7)-pungency Attack: alcoholic crisp Mid-palate: (lvl-7)-sweetness, (MAIN) caramel malt, toffee, nutty, brandy Finish: subtle soft bitter hops, malty sweet smooth finish. Summary: This drinks way too smooth for a 10%. Not much bitterness for an IPA, tastes like a strong amber. Good taste:$$$ ratio.

Bottle. Pours copper coloured, with light head. Hoppy, floral, caramel, citrus. Boozy. Everything you’d wish for. Bitter finish with the hops lasting long. Medium to heavy body. Massive beer. An absolute must try. And try. And try...
