COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nothing is like celebrating your own milestones. This is a celebration of our 500th batch of ale. It was brewed with joy and splendor; the brewer wore a suit, and a TV station filmed the event. As a base for this ale, we have elected to play with numbers: 5 hops, 100 IBUs, 10% alcohol by volume. Indeed it is an Imperial India Pale Ale. Big and bold. Great for a celebration!

Bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours a deep amber with nice 1/2" head. Hoppy nose with touch of earth...but good citrus as well. Caramel comes through too. Flavor starts out hoppy, but is a bit over sweet for my taste.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2011 Bottle to snifter. Pours hazy amber with a off white tight frothy head that fades to a film. Aroma is pungent bitter pine and caramel very resiness. Taste is sweet sugar and bittering pine resiness and malty (very tasty!). Palate is full creamy and sticky dry. Wow this is how I think about DIPA’s and this is AWESOME!

Bottled. A hazy orange-red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of fresh lemons, and over ripe fruits, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, lemons, over ripe fruits, caramel, and some malt, leading to a bitter finish, where the hops and alcohol are felt on the palate.

Bottle shared by akevitt. Pours a cloudy amber-brown with soapy, light brown head. Really sweet aroma consisting of caramel malts, sugar, biscuit along with a light citrus hop. Flavor is also sweet and malty with the hop bitterness near the front and then disappearing. I also get notes of raisin and prune reminiscent of a barleywine, which would be a more accurate descriptor than IIPA. Smooth mouthfeel with a long undercurrent of light bitterness. This isn’t bad, but the malts are way too prominent for a IIPA.

16.9 oz bottle. Cloudy brown with a fluffy white head. Nose is bread, honeydew, caramel and tangerine. Chewy medium body with a buzz. Taste is orange candy, watermelon, juniper and pine. Quite sweet with fading bitterness; even a bit soapy. An IPA that needs some aging?

Hazy amber/orange color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of floral hops, caramel malt, & citrus; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel/toffee, pine hops, mango/pineapple, citrus (notably orange), and spice; Finish is slightly bitter; The alcohol is well hidden; Very nicely balanced; Overall, a bit on the sweet side - but I always enjoy their brews.

Stumbled across this wandering the fjords. An amazing beer that is definitely the best I’ve had here in Norway. Wonderful auburn color with sensual hoppy smells. The taste has a great malt and caramel flavor that lends to a great palate. Would even have this a a session beer.

Bottle. I think this is the one zinister provided at our little tasting at Dry Creek. Pours a dark amber with a tan head. Nose is of funk and malt, biscuit. Taste is also biscuit with sweet peaches. Mouthfeel is bitter. Not an American-style IIPA by any means and did not impress either.
