Nothing is like celebrating your own milestones. This is a celebration of our 500th batch of ale. It was brewed with joy and splendor; the brewer wore a suit, and a TV station filmed the event. As a base for this ale, we have elected to play with numbers: 5 hops, 100 IBUs, 10% alcohol by volume. Indeed it is an Imperial India Pale Ale. Big and bold. Great for a celebration!

Dark amber, clear, frothy white head that dissipates to rim
Aroma - rich golden malts, barley sugars, grassy hops, light citrus, sweet scorched caramel malts
Taste - rich sweet golden malts, sweet, grassy hops, citrus hops, thick sugary barley sugar malts, very boozy, hmm I’m not very keen on this
Palate - soft carb, full body, sticky gloopy body. Finish of alcohol, gloopy barley sugar, very sweet, oh no
Overall - This just didn’t work for me

This is not an American IPA. This is European/old world style where the malts come through just as much as the hops and they blend together for a beautiful resiny and woody flavor that isn’t a bomb of either side. Pours a hazy brown, like a dark bourbon or spiced rum. Mouthfeel is very akin to a barleywine, sweet and smooth. The flavors will stay with you for awhile.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. Aroma is sweetly malty, some caramel. Taste is a bit bitter, given that it’s an IPA, but there’s more going on here. I enjoyed this a lot. Thanks and god bless.

This was a stellar beer. Quite unique for an imperial IPA. Dark reddish brown colour. It had the usual hoppy bitter IPA taste, but with a great kick of caramel sweet malts. Reminded me of a hoppier Hair of the Dog Adam. Awesome beer.

Det här var en spretig sak. Fruktig till smaken med en bastant kropp, ölen är väldigt alkoholkraftig och den skiner nästan igenom, men bara nästan.

Pours deep amber, fluffy off-white head. Good head retention. Huge fruity aroma, some malt and booze shines through. Mostly just big warm hops though. Medium to thick mouthfeel with good carbonation. More fruits and more malts in the taste, with the alcohol driving up the heat. Long bitter and sweet aftertaste. Awesome

Linnet (1686) - Karlstad, SWEDEN - APR 20, 2012
Ar: Burst of tropical fruits, grapefruit, pineapple, fruit candy, resin, mango, very thick maltbase and alcohol is evident. Ap: copper/Amber colour, medium beige head. F: Boozy, lots of alcohol, thick malt prescence, big aggressive bite, harsch resinous notes of hops and à slightly citric and fruity finish. Taste is subtle as a sledgehammer to the face. M: thick mouthfeel, lots of small bubbles. T: solid example of the style, and it is indeed both big and bold.
