250 ml bottle. A black body with a thin brown head. Aroma is a bit milder than expected, still quite obvious. Roasted malt, coffee, dry fruit, wood and alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, rather alcoholic, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, dry fruit and wood. The body feels probably lighter than it really is, but it feels OK as it is. Aftertaste is same as the main taste and stays along. Overall this beer surprises me a bit. The Imperial Stout flavor is somehow somewhere in the background and the flavor from the barrel feels rather boozy but not too typical whisky or whatever, its more wood and alcohol in general. Takes a few sips to get used to it, not unpleasant but I prefer the original Imperial Stout.

Bottle shared with friend from Celestin, Lille - FR. Color: dark black beer with no carbonation and small brown head. Smell: high malt and sugar domination with notes of barrel. Domiation of alcohol notes. Taste: well balanced of malt and alcohol? Good drinkable. Really recommended. Aftertaste: alcohol and malt with caramel.

250ml bottle - thanks VastActiv and the rest of the Hel crowd!
Hint of whisky in the aroma, but a decent roast too. Black, dark brown head. Fairly smooth initially, but doesn’t lake long before it’s actually harsh. Kind of hard to drink, as it’s aggressive in the mouth, but it does have a nice finish. Plenty of resiny vapours. I did want to like this, but, yet again, it’s not as good as the version that didn’t go into the spirit barrel. Burntness and alcohol too much, but the breadier roastier parts were nice.

(Bottle, 0.25 l - BB 01/12/15, courtesy of VastActiv, 20141122) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had vineousness, roasted malts and sweetness. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were vineousness, sweetness, burnt malts, vanilla and bitterness. Aftertaste had wood and bitterness. A messed up version of a good imperial stout.

Bottle 25cl (Vinmonopolet, AIH40)
Opaque black color, creamy brown head. Coffee, whisky, milky notes in the nose. Full-bodied, soft palate. Toasted malty with lactose, coffee/cocoa, alcohol but silky palate anyhow. Very good but the original is better.

Bottled@AIH40 (from Vinmonopolet Kirkenes). Pitch black colour, small, but long lasting brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some wood, mild alcohol, sweet malts, toast and toffee. Very beautiful. Flavour is liquorice, wood, mild toasted and nutty notes along with some alcohol and ripe fruits. Mild syrupy sweetness as well. Totally lovely.
