Bottle @ Odense Get Together Short Notice, August-14. Pours black with a creamy head and lacings. Roast, coffee and charcoal. Salty licorice and smoke. Full bodied. The smoke is there but overall gentle. Good!

Odense Late Summer Post-Munkekonge Whale Spotting Night. Jet black with a big tan head. Roasted aroma with licorice, caramel, coffee and a hint of smoke. Sweet roasted flavour with lots of licorice. Smoked notes and a burnt, ashy finish. I far prefer the fresh, regular imperial stout with all its hops

250 ml bottle from Birra+ (#2297). Pitch black, absolutely no light passing through, with a huge, creamy, dark brown head which dissipated rather quickly. Huge booziness on the nose, quite sweet smelling, lots of cane sugar, toffee candy, vanilla, wood, dark caramel, a hint of salty soy sauce. Completely different in the mouth from what I was expecting. solid bitter dark chocolate and freshly roasted coffee beans presence, slightly ashy, definitel sweet but not as cloying as the aroma indicated. Not much barrel treatment, at least to my taste. There is just a subtle and tiny sourness, which imho is great as palate cleansing. Soft to average carbonation, medium to full body, oily and sticky texture. Different, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Bottle. Pours black as used motor oil in color with a beige head. Salty licorice, dark chocolate, vinous notes and sweetish berries in aroma. Licorice and coffee mostly in taste. Also some dark fruityness is present later on. Some smokiness and saltyness in aftertaste.

dark brown pillowy dark tan head. Autolysed marmitey yeast and sticky toffee bourbon. Bubbly carbonation, dry, toasty, ashen, toasty barley, sharp, boozy, dry end. Fruity berries come in afterwards with more toasty barley.

250ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours black with a big tan head. Aromas of soy sauce, liquorice, really dark chocolate, some woody notes. Taste has a boozy burn, but rounded out with light spice, sweet dark chocolate, more soy. Lots going on. Lingering deep dark finish. Very nice.

maneliquor (3056) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 11, 2014
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a massive frothy tan head. Nose is not to my liking. Very syrup and soy sauce like. Taste is much better than the nose comes across. Quite robust and roasty with mild dark chocolate, biscuit and woodiness. Quite hot. Comes across a little bit tangy and sour. Possible infection coming through. Very mild at this stage but I probably won’t be putting any of these aside as it’s definitely detracting from the overall product. A dry sour finish. Not like most of their beers unfortunately
