COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Imperial Stout has spent one year in oak casks which were previously used for aging Cognac. We think that this has given it a couple of new dimensions, and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Black with a porous brown head. Aroma: chocolate, licorice, boozy, more cognac here than in the taste. Taste: licorice, chocolate, coffee, a touch of cognac. Full-bodied.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with an instantly disappearing brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and traces of cognac. Tastes of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits with the malt and notes of cognac coming out in the aftertaste. Medium to full bodied and a bit sweet with a slightly bitter - but mostly malty and chocolaty - aftertaste. Barrel aged stouts sometimes tend to be a bit "tinny" in their taste, but this one isn’t - it feels nicely balanced.

Bottle. I was pretty pleased to find a bottle of this as the standard Nogne Imperial is one of my first and favourites. Black with a tan head. Familiar imperial aroma with an outside edge of Cognac. Flavour has the usual chocolatey goodness with a richness verging on Soy. There’s an additional woody element which offers some vanilla and more importantly some top shelf cognac flavours. Sweetness and bitterness are well balanced. This was delicious.

250mL bottle, pours black with a tiny tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, cognac barrels, and a little booze. Flavour is dry rich, with strong notes of roasted malt and cognac, a little dark unsweetened chocolate, and more roast. Finished on notes of roasted malt a cognac. The barrels are used very well, but I much prefer the regular Imperial Stout. Great stuff.

Bottle - The oak and cognac shine with roasted malts. Jet black with a brown thin head. Bbozey barrel taste with the sweetness predominant. No bitterness just alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

250ml bottle pours black in color with a vigorously poured finger of light brown head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is slightly smoky with some roasted grains and dark fruits (prunes?). Taste is a dark fruit and dark chocolate sweetness with some roasted grain bitterness and a hint of alcohol in the finish. Medium to heavy body with moderate carbonation. A very solid brew worthy for anyone who wishes a good tasting experience.
