COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Imperial Stout has spent one year in oak casks which were previously used for aging Cognac. We think that this has given it a couple of new dimensions, and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Bottle. I was pretty pleased to find a bottle of this as the standard Nogne Imperial is one of my first and favourites. Black with a tan head. Familiar imperial aroma with an outside edge of Cognac. Flavour has the usual chocolatey goodness with a richness verging on Soy. There’s an additional woody element which offers some vanilla and more importantly some top shelf cognac flavours. Sweetness and bitterness are well balanced. This was delicious.

Pitch black, no head. Delicate barrel aromas backed by dark cocoa notes with some tar. Almost full body, fruity, dark chocolate with figs, some cognac in the finale to warm everything up. Delicate barrel treatment, palate is a bit thin for the style, but very good impy stout nonetheless.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 3 Oct 2014) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, black coffee and a touch of oak wood. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, cacao, oak wood, gentle flavours of cognac and a solid coffee bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with just a touch of sweetness (drier than expected). Solid and well made imperial stout, with a gentle cognac character in the background. Very nice.
