Bottle from Wade’s Wines in Westlake Village, CA. This Imperial Stout was a bit thinner than I’m used to and lacked the coffee flavor that most American craft brewers add. However, it is superior to most stouts and had the vanilla, chocolate, and oat flavors to fill out the taste. Excellent palate and presentation.

Dark pour as expected. Small brown head which stayed for quite a while. Chocolate aroma w/ hints of coffee. Very well balanced. An excellent imperial which I will happily purchase again.

Nogne is reliable, and you have to love the first impression--there is something about the label that makes it all come off as sophisticated. But assuming that it is what is inside the bottle that matters, it is good that they get that right too. This Impy is just what you would expect: black with yellow edging, little lacing. Rich aroma, roasted and deep. Bitter chocolate, coffee, long finish. Ended up a bit too bitter for my taste, and not a beer I was prepared to have too much of, but good.
