COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

Imperial Stout fra Nøgne Ø er en tett og helt svart ale med stor fyldighet. Smaken domineres av kaffe, sjokolade, lær og tørket frukt. Vi synes den passer bra til mørk sjokolade og kraftige desserter.

Bottle. Pours black with thick tan head. Aroma is drak malts, strong coffee, chocolate, some cocoa and some fruitness in the background. Light grassy and fruity hop aroma. Carbonation a bit too high. Full and sweet with nice, a bit ashy and bitter finish that provides the balance. Good, rich, balanced imperial stout.

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Pitch black color with a thin, dark brown head. Aromas of caramel, malt, coffee, figs and sugar. Earthy malts go together with coffee and hints of chocolate. Carbonation is a little higher than expected, but still adds to the warming character of the beer. Coffee is present in a non too bitter way, supporting the malts very well and gets even bigger in the end, by becoming more complex due to an upcoming bitterness, which still leaves space for the malts. Very oily, smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied - different flavors blend together very well. Aftertaste is all about coffee, with a long lasting bitterness. While the beer smells sweet and malty, taste is in great balance between coffee and malts, supported by a fitting carbonation and a decent bitterness.

The beer is opaque and deep, dark brown with a thick, oily, beige collar. The aroma brings loads of malt and chocolate. Distinctly European in both aroma and flavor. Prominent dark fruits and rich chocolates. Low carbonation with a medium body, lighter than I expected given the appearance and abv. Overall, this is a solid beer. I’d have it again.

Good caramel and smokiness with some great happiness that enhances it even more.

Not a huge smell, typical stouty. The flavor has huge dark fruit, wood, smoke, coffee, cocoa, and bread. Very nice) meal in a glass.

Nice. Roasted and full malt aroma. Very dark with a thin tan head. Palate was oily and full. Carbonation was average to low. Big malty flavors and the hops did not leave a strong impression yet the beer was well balanced. Wood and coffee flavors were present as well but only complimentary. Probably my favorite so far from this brewery.

Backlog fra Cardinals crazy juleølsmaking. Jeg ticket alle de øllene, men så at de da ikke kom med på Statistikk, så nå blir det sånn ca...
