COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2015 Draught at Braukunst Live München 2015.
Pitch black body, with a big, coffee brown, creamy head.
Big, yet smooth aroma with loads of dry coffee, subtle smoke, cocoa beans, liquorice.
Taste is as big as the nose, with the same, coffee dominated aromas and some more subtle dark fruits and even some fruity hops.
Pretty full, creamy mouthfeel, with a quite lively carbonation.
Finishes roasty, dry, with coffee and bitter cocoa.

Wonderful! Straight, but still complex, strong and dry, but still quite smooth to drink. Needless to say, this is perfectly balanced! Ideal Imperial Stout for those, who want it without any "gadgets".

Side note: They were the cheapest brewery at BKL 2015 (and 2014), although they offered such world class beer from tap, served by a very friendly guy, by the way. Exemplary!

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2015 50cl bottle@home. Approx 12 celcius. Brewed October 14 2014. Truly an Imperial Stout! Jet black with an ample brown head subsiding into a low carbonated deeply complex, thick stout. Aroma of malt, coffee and liquorice but also the sweetness which is prevalent in this beer. One aspect I really enjoy is the complexity of the constantly changing taste: One sip is liquorice, the next is malt, the next is bitter, the next is sweet, the next is smoked...it holds such a range! For that I hold it as a truly great stout among equals though it is a bit sweet for my taste. Wonder how it ages? Must try...I’ll be back in years to come:-)

Black with brown head. Aromas of roasted malts, some chocolate, licorice, plums and raisins, some subtle alcohol notes as well. Medium sweet, could be more bitter. Full bodied with oily texture, especially when it warms up. A very good imperial stout.

6th Feb 2015: large sample from a bottle in De Bierboom (Brugge). Jet black body with a good tanned topping. Malts all the way here: roasted malts rule the nose and flavours with dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice being the main players in the aroma and taste. Very pleasant and far to easy to drink at 9% ABV. Another fine beer from these guys.

Bottle in Craft & Dough, Sheffield. Pours inky black with a tan head. Rich and full flavoured. Starts quite spicy before chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Some blackcurrant notes too. Thick oily texture. Excellent.

Pours black with a big brown head. Sweet aroma with notes of liquorice, light bourbon, roasted malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter, again some liquorice, chocolate and coffee. Very well balanced. Good!
