COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

Imperial Stout fra Nøgne Ø er en tett og helt svart ale med stor fyldighet. Smaken domineres av kaffe, sjokolade, lær og tørket frukt. Vi synes den passer bra til mørk sjokolade og kraftige desserter.

Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, very dark, cola brown. Good covering of dense, light brown, lasting head. Caramel chocolates. Roast coffee beans. Light liquorice. Light, dried vine fruit. Taste is bonfire toffee sweet. Woody dry. Some tangy, leathery bitterness. Lovely, smooth, creamy palate. Finishes woody, nutty, tangy, sweet and bitter, all rolled into one. Quality tackle.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2014 500cl bottle shared in a snifter at Pure Bar, Birmingham. Aroma is typical Imperial Stout with copious amounts of malt. The taste somewhat belies its moderate (for the style) ABV and was of a much higher standard than I expected although the mouthfeel was a little thin compared to others. Highly rated and was the last of three sampled on a rather heavy day. Probably would have scored higher had I sampled it earlier on.

Bottle into glass, bought @ Centrala Piwna, Poznań. Aroma rich in chocolate and coffee, roasty aromas in the background. Pours clear black with a decent head, leaving nice lacing. Taste lightly sweet, full of chocolate and roasty malts accompanied by coffee. Alcohol warming the throat nicely, rather low carbonation. To sum it up quickly: Amazing imperial stout - definitely my favourite beer.

Bottle 500 ml purchased at Julio’s Liquors. 2012 vintage. Maybe should have consumed this before now but... So many beers, so little time! Used motor oil color with a tiny ring of tan head in the snifter. Aroma is old coffee grounds, deep roast and ash. Light anise when warm.

Flavor is earthy premium coffee beans, tobacco leaves, roasted malts and a bitter chocolate to help balance the sweet flavors. Fuller body with a lightly creamy texture with a hint of ash. Lingering chocolate and bitter roasted notes after the sip. Jeez, this is really easy to drink and a solid stout. Wonder what a bourbon barrel treatment would do to this? Overall, a nicely made stout that did just fine sitting in my cellar after 2 years.

Bottle. Creamy, tan colour head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee liquier, toffi, brownie and leather. Firstly roasted black malts but than heavy bitter contra. Some smoke, some peat, some ash... perfectly ballanced taste. Creamy body, rather dry - excellent RIS.
