COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

Imperial Stout fra Nøgne Ø er en tett og helt svart ale med stor fyldighet. Smaken domineres av kaffe, sjokolade, lær og tørket frukt. Vi synes den passer bra til mørk sjokolade og kraftige desserter.

Black beer with brown head. Intense Coffee and chocolate aroma. Also some tofe and sweet fruit notes. In mouth the aroma turns totally fumed. Bitter taste. Full body and medium carbonation. Warm sensation due to the alcohol and very long and dry ending. Good beer in mouth but very unbalanced aroma.

Black as sin with nice well formed frothy mocha head. Very roasty and sweet aroma, with charcoal, cocoa, dark chocolate, treacle, dark fruits and a little alcohol. Strangely, but not at all horribly, most of the flavour seems to be in the lengthy finish and aftertaste. Dominated by dark chocolate, with hints of vanilla and licorice. Alcohol is almost imperceptible. Velvety smooth is an understatement. This is an outstanding understated and elegant imperial stout.

0,5l bottle as a gift. Pours pitch-black with barely any head. Roasty nose, liquorice. The liquorice is also very dominant in the taste. Dark chocolate, bitter. Not my beer.

Bottle at home (batch nr 1244, brewed 13.08.14, bb 13.08.18). Pours black with a very small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, some hops, almost a bit cheesy. Taste is sweet with roasted bitterness, creamy, coffee, dark chocolate, bit of soy, licorice, long roasted bitter aftertaste. Very nice, but a bit weak in the aroma, maybe at bit too young still..
