From Belmont Station. First Norwegian beer and first impy stout. Poured my best looking stout ever, jet black with a small but creamy and solid brown head. Very little here for my nose. Taste was very much a different story. Amazing and fabulous. Just a lot to enjoy here, including some licorice and dark chocolate. Effin’ grand!

Nice aroma with loads of milk chocolate, some fruit esters. Sweet chocolate malt in the mouth and an asertive bitter finish. Abit one dimensional and easy going. Presents far more like a big export stout than an imperial. Easy drinking springs to mind and it shouldnt with an Imperial!

bottle, pours a very thick black with one of the tallest darkest brown heads I have ever seen, very nice to look at, almost like chocolate mousse. Huge roasted barley and coffee bean nose. Light hints of mollassis and syrup. The mouth is very silky smooth and starts with a very robust coffee, black patent malt body that fades into a lightly bittersweet finish of cocoa nibs and chocolate malt. Very nice but a little dissapointing in the finish. This has a sessionable RIS quality to me. It’s more mellow with good flavors than in your face with extreme ends. A+

Bottle thanks to an old trade with daknole. Pours black, dark brown head with good retention, leaves a smooth film of bubbles on the glass. Aroma has a lot of alcohol, some red fruit and caramel. Flavor-wise the relatively high hops load nicely blends with the darker malt to give the impression of orange-chocolate. A lot of drier stout flavors, smoke, tobacco, toffee, leather, going on here. The fruitier side reemerges in a mint edge to the finish. Medium body, warm and somewhat lively palate.

Black beer with a brownish-tan ring of bubbles at the top. It smells like dark chocolate. I was a little skeptical at first but the first taste was damned good. Lots of roasted chocolate flavors with a little coffee-like bitterness at the end. Very thick beer, like oil coating your mouth. This one hits all the right notes as far as I’m concerned. The only thing I didn’t like was the price ($7.50 for 16oz) but it did travel a long way to get to Colorado. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-05-2007 15:33:32

black-brown pour, serious broth frothy head. intense aroma of chocolate, green olives, dough, alcohol, vanilla, a bit of sour milk, and a light grassyness. similar bold flavors, more roasted malt with lots of chocolate and a super long bittersweet cocoa finish. alcohol is obviously present but not offensive. silky and creamy, maybe slightly overcarbonated.

Bottle - Pours jet black with a dark tan head that quickly disapears. mild roast malt and choclate aroma. Nice balanced moca coffee flavour, hint of yeasty vegemite. Nice linger flavour. very smooth beer with a good warming amount of alcohol, perfect for a cold night.
