We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

500ml bottle. Pours black with a dark tan head. Brine and sea salt on the nose with heavily roasted coffee and a charcoal note. Very different. Salty on the palate with a big roasted seaweed feel.

From bottle in Xiamen, China. Pours black with a large dark beige head and a lot of sticky lacing on the glass. Arome struck me before the top was even off the bottle - roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is toasted and roasted malts, chocolate, lightly sweet with some nice hoppy balance. It’s hard to believe this is 75 IBUs, the balance is perfect. Medium mouthfeel and very soft carbonation. Light bitter finish. Delicious.

Pours black with a small but lingering brown foam. Well-rounded "woody" aroma of coffee, roasted malt, dried fruit and a hint of rutabaga (of all things). Medium body, oily texture, soft/avg carbonation. Taste kicks off with a strong but pleasant roasted bitterness and notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Long smoky finish with some alcohol.

500ml bottle from Vinmonopolet. Tiny brown head with good lacing. Opaque brown/black body. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, toffee, burned oak and alcohol. Mostly sweet on the tongue. Long lasting grassy hop aftertaste. Very creamy on the palate. Simply excellent!

No to intensywne piwo czarnej glebokiej barwy Ze spora oblepiajaca bezowo brazowa piana jest tresciwe slodkawe i palono gozkie. Kawowe czekoladowe i lekko kwaskowe.
