COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

Imperial Stout fra Nøgne Ø er en tett og helt svart ale med stor fyldighet. Smaken domineres av kaffe, sjokolade, lær og tørket frukt. Vi synes den passer bra til mørk sjokolade og kraftige desserter.

500ml bottle. Pours black with a creamy brown head with sticky long lasting lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, and caramel. Notes of leather smoke and chocolate. Flavour is sweet, mildly bitter long duration. very smooth. Nice!

Black as sin with nice well formed frothy mocha head. Very roasty and sweet aroma, with charcoal, cocoa, dark chocolate, treacle, dark fruits and a little alcohol. Strangely, but not at all horribly, most of the flavour seems to be in the lengthy finish and aftertaste. Dominated by dark chocolate, with hints of vanilla and licorice. Alcohol is almost imperceptible. Velvety smooth is an understatement. This is an outstanding understated and elegant imperial stout.

0,5l bottle as a gift. Pours pitch-black with barely any head. Roasty nose, liquorice. The liquorice is also very dominant in the taste. Dark chocolate, bitter. Not my beer.

Bottle at home (batch nr 1244, brewed 13.08.14, bb 13.08.18). Pours black with a very small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, some hops, almost a bit cheesy. Taste is sweet with roasted bitterness, creamy, coffee, dark chocolate, bit of soy, licorice, long roasted bitter aftertaste. Very nice, but a bit weak in the aroma, maybe at bit too young still..

Helt svart med et stort brunt skum. Lukten utvikler seg mens man drikker. Lukkter kaffebønner og tørket frukt. fortsetter i smaken sammen med litt sjokolade. Varmer godt!

Pitch black colour, it looks like old engine oil. Huge and rocky brown head. Strong intensive aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, lots of dried fruits (plum and cherry), some licorice, nuts and slightly hoppy background. Remerkable! Taste is medium to heavy sweet, medium bitter and slight sour. Perfectly balanced. Flat carbonation. Thick full body. Absolutely fantastic RIS, rich, full of flavours, however very drinkable. Masterpiece! No doubt one of the best beer I’ve ever tried.

Bottle @ home. Black beer with brown foam. Nose is roasty with a soft sweetness. Full mouthfeel, really balanced, chocolate, roasty notes, coffee beans, licorice, burnt oak, long bitterness in the end.

Tapped in craft republic/moscow(tried bottled many times, but like keg version more). Deep bromw to black with creamy chocolate foam. Chocolate sweet aroma, amybe some caramel aswell. Starting from rounded full body on mouth, really cool for this just 9%/23P example of imperial stout! Sweet taste of high-cocoa chocolate, bit nutty bit sweet milk caramel, some bitterness of roasty malt/bread with neutral hop make this beer on of most balanced examples ive tried. Long enough aftertaste with just little bit more bitternes then you can feel when drinking it.

Dense body, aroma of creosote, a little coffee and alcoholic heat on the finish. Good, but not perfect
