COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

Imperial Stout fra Nøgne Ø er en tett og helt svart ale med stor fyldighet. Smaken domineres av kaffe, sjokolade, lær og tørket frukt. Vi synes den passer bra til mørk sjokolade og kraftige desserter.

Bottle. Batch #246. Black color with a average, frothy / creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, light to moderate notes of alcohol. Flavor is wow, moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is full, texture is oily / creamy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. Very nice ;o))

RB#1100: 50 cL bottle (batch 286). Pours black with a creamy chocolate brown head, very inviting look. Rather hops citrus and vaguely peach fruity aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Clear chocolate flavoured with a decent hops fruity- and bitterness. A slight touch of coffee towards the finish. Bitter and roasted malt finish with a whiff of smoke. Very nice.

A black beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with both herbal and flowery notes, but also a lingering acidity in the background. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of violet candy sugar used for cakes in the beginning, but then turning towards roasted malt and chocolate in the end. Nice.

(Bottle 50 cl) Completely black and opaque with a creamy, light brown head leaving some laces. Fat, malty aroma. Full-bodied with shiploads of roasted malt - hard roasted but not really burned. Ends - surprisingly - on a rather mellow note. A very smooth Imperial Stout. 170406

Bottled. Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts and some smoke along with caramellish malts and coffee. Smoky, roasted, plummy and very fullflavoured. Caramel, licorace you name it. Lovely brew. Looking forward to the time we get this into Finnish market this autumn.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Thick dark stout. Initially this was hard work but improves a lot as it warms up. Very drinkable with hints of fruit and cream. Bags of dark malt and chocolate. Slightly bitter finish.

Black color, big head. The aroma is very interesting, strong cheese and smoke, but also dust and black bean sauce, chinese kitchen. It has medium body strength, thinner than expected; the carbonation is high, and the alcohol clearly perceivable, sign that the beer worked along these years; there is a good chocolate and dark malt flavor, with some dry liquorice and roasted nuts, dark caramel; there is little sugar left here. Correct bitterness, from the roasted malt, but it’s evident that there are little hop qualities; the final is therefore less interesting. Overall, a quite complex beer, different, interesting even if not spectacular.

Black color; generous brownish head. Very nice aroma: malt, roasted malt, vanilla, light cardboard. Powerful taste and mouthfeel, in which the liquorice dominates over the roasted malt; less thick and oily than some American one. Very long final (liquorice, roasted malt, caramel; lightly astringent). Hidden, there is some aromatic hop. Excellent. Thanks Henrik and Jørgen.
