very dark colour, oblique. Head is dark chocolate colour, doesn’t last that long. Very strong sweet-malt aroma with hint of raisins and chocolate. Palate is thick and soft carbonate. Strong flavour of roasted malt, espresso. Bitter. This is very nicely balanced for so much alc.vol

made a very rash decision to spend my vary limited funds on this at the Spuyten Duyvel in brooklyn. until this taste leaves my mouth and this feeling of euphoria leaves my head, i am going to say it was the best decision i could have made at 7 pm on a windy thursday.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours like some texas tea, thick extra long legs and a quickly disappearing thin tan orangish head... color: uh... black, black, when a photon makes it thru brownish red...
Aroma: dark bitter chococate, some coffee, dark figs and some alcohol (not hot at all)
Finish: Long dry toasty, chocolaty and ever changing firm, spicy, earthy hop flavors, roast without the astringency
Flavor: Big assertive, nothing subtle here... but nothing agressive. Vinous, viscous, chocolaty, toast, coffee, dried fruits like dates and figs very firm hop bite spicy and earthy passing thru with a silky finish... the alcohol comes along tasting like a nice brandy with nutty notes.
Overall: WOW! what a treat "Improbable and realistic" like the everlasting gobstopper ... taste ever changing and incredibly complex, fleeting and delightful.... Incredibly seductive, I am not sure if I should take another sip or enjoy the finish. Yes I am waxing verbose... that is what a great beer does to you. Sign me up for a case of this. I had a chance to taste a bottle brought from ME but damaged in lost baggage leaving but a few precious sips only
PS: I am knocking it a bit since the alcohol tends to get big as the beer warms up... what the hell am I doing waiting for the last sip to warm up when it the last of 3 :)

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Jet black pour. Thick and unforgiving body. Chalky, harsh and hoppy finish. Really a monster beer. Not a refined and well balanced IS. Age will probably do this Frankenstein well. Lots of chocolate, caramel, bread and burnt bottom-of-the-coffee-pot aspects. A really nice brew that is probably deserving of a higher rating than I’m giving. It is big on hop bitterness and flavor, thus it is a palate destroyer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
from bottle, suprised to find this in Canada! viscous black pour with a dark tan head. Aromas of brandy, dark chocolate laced with vanilla. intense roasted malts too. Rich complex flavour, freshly ground coffee, chocolate nibs, and crunchy biscuity nutty malt. Smooth mouthfeel with a lingering bitterness that adds value to each sip. Badass!

I want more! Drank this again tonight, and must say underrated smell. 0,1 up for this masterpiece.

Bottle pours an opaque dark brown with a full brown head. Aroma is brown sugar. Very smooth, almost no discernible bitterness. Tastes are classic for the style, dark chocolate and rich coffee.
