We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

Imperial Stout fra Nøgne Ø er en tett og helt svart ale med stor fyldighet. Smaken domineres av kaffe, sjokolade, lær og tørket frukt. Vi synes den passer bra til mørk sjokolade og kraftige desserter.

16.9 oz bottle into my snifter. Aggressive pour produces an opaque black brew with a thick 4 finger dark brown head that dissipated quickly. Beautiful aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, toffee, dark dried fruits and crisp piney hops. Great flavors of dark cocoa, roasted malts, dried raisins and coffee. A little molasses and bitter hops in the finish. Nice moderately thick mouthfeel. Average carbonation, a delightly drinkable and delicious imperial stout. My first brew from Nogne O and it won’t very lasts would love to try it barrel aged

Tapped in craft republic/moscow(tried bottled many times, but like keg version more). Deep bromw to black with creamy chocolate foam. Chocolate sweet aroma, amybe some caramel aswell. Starting from rounded full body on mouth, really cool for this just 9%/23P example of imperial stout! Sweet taste of high-cocoa chocolate, bit nutty bit sweet milk caramel, some bitterness of roasty malt/bread with neutral hop make this beer on of most balanced examples ive tried. Long enough aftertaste with just little bit more bitternes then you can feel when drinking it.

Dense body, aroma of creosote, a little coffee and alcoholic heat on the finish. Good, but not perfect

Bottle - black with a thick dark brown, bubbling head. Super retention. Aroma of chocolate, grass and earth with notes of coffee and cocoa. Taste of chocolate, rich coffee with hints of vanilla, shortly followed by sweet creamy and nutty flavours, roast malt and mild bitterness on the finish. Prickly carbonation, medium body.

Strong malt and chocolate aroma, flavour of caramel nuts, with fruity hints. Great aftertaste of coffee, chocolate, and nuts. Quite a smooth 9% ABV stout

Bottle, 500mL. Home. Batch 961. Brewed 05/03/2013. A dark brown, nearly black beer with a big beige head ; good retention. Aroma of roast, smoke, herbs, coffee, chocolate, light caramel. Medium sweet (sugary, la bit "warm"), medium dry bitter refreshing. Good body, smooth silky texture, average carbonation, bittersweet lasting finish. Overall, delicious smooth brown stout.

Couleur noire, mousse qui disparait. Nez de café, amer et chocolat noir. Super gout café noir cremeux, chocolat noir, note grillée, fumée puis fruits noirs en fin de bouche avec bonne amertume longue. Très bon corps. Intense et ronde en bouche. Un top d’imperial stout!

More brown than beige top, black body, thin rims as lacing. Aroma; fruity malts, leather, toe, light mint, notes of bread, notes of coffee. Taste; black chocolate malts, cocoa, prunes, raisins, notes of coffee, light mint or anise, faint notes of tobacco, all leading to a bitter-sweet dark-fruity lasting finish. Full bodied, soft carbonation. Overall solid - the russian tsar is not. [50cl br btl, abv9%, #1228 BB15/07/18, 9€ B@Vinmonopolet]

0,5l bottle. Wonderfully black with heavy caramel head. Deep aroma of licorice. Unfortunately this is too sour and bitter for my taste. Really interesting, but too heavy. I suspect high gravity...
