COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We think the Russian tsar would have liked his stout this way. A dark, rich ale in which a generous sweetness with roasted malt bitterness. Serving temp.10°C/50°F. Great with vanilla ice cream or dark chocolate.

Ingredients: Maris Otter, Munich, roasted barley, oat, black, and chocolate malt; Columbus and Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23°P,75 IBU, 9% ABV.

Imperial Stout fra Nøgne Ø er en tett og helt svart ale med stor fyldighet. Smaken domineres av kaffe, sjokolade, lær og tørket frukt. Vi synes den passer bra til mørk sjokolade og kraftige desserter.

Bottle. Batch 241. Brewed 21-03-2006 so more than 6 years old. Small bubbly brownish head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Pitch black color. Aroma was extremely vinous. Dried fruits, heavy sweet malty notes, light roasted feel as well. Not much hops to detect in the nose, but I guess that is to be expected after 6 years. Over the palate came heavy thick and oily malty notes. Coffee, roasted, liquorish, dried fruit. Well balanced with the alcohol and light bitter notes. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and very thick oily texture. Heavy sweet flavor with a mild bitterness. Lingering sweet malty liquorish finish. Excellent after 6 years!!!

500ml bottle, thanks to Gunnar! Pours black with big tan head. Aroma is big and roasty. Taste is of course flavoursome, although perhaps not as thick as expected. Not a million miles away from their porter and exceptionally drinkable for the strength. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malts all represented and beautifully balanced.

0,5 l bottle. Pitch dark pour with good amounts of light brown foam. Intensive aroma of chocolate, caramel and some coffee. Taste is very smooth. It leaves a nice, balanced chocolatey feeling with some bitterness kicking in at the end. Also a little dry finish. You can sense the alcohol, but it doesn?t affect the overall experience at all. A very nice imperial stout.

On tap at Avenue Pub in NOLA. Jet black with minimal head. Served cold. Aroma - tons of chocolate, coffee underscores, sugary sweet, some dark ripe fruit. Starts moderately sweet and transitions to a dry finish. Dark ripe fruit is present throughout. Body is medium thin with soft carb. A little boozy warmth accompanies. Nice imp stout.

Almost black, opaque, weak head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee & malts, smoke, some earth. Full body. Creamy palate. The flavour is more on the sweet side & rich of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, port wine. Also some grassy hops present. Tasty. Objectively very good. Still it excites me just partly.

0,5L From Vinmonopolet, Norway - Pours a thick inky black. Aromas of liquorice, dark roasted coffee, leather, dark fruits and chocolate. 70% chocolate. Mouthfeel is velvety with low amounts of carbonation. Flavor is quite sweet with prominent flavors of roasted coffee, liquorice and chocolate. Has a well balanced finish that is not too dry neither too sweet. A staple imperial stout in my book. Give it a try!
