Fresh aroma, nice full head. good color. What a change to this from the Moylan Moylander. Not so much hops up front or throughout but great sublteness. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
From a 500mL Bottle. Purchased form Liquid Solutions. Pours a hazy caramel amber color with a thick layer of creamy ivory head. Fresh, citrusy cascade hop aromas leap from behind a thick, caramel malt base. Chewy, almost salty caramel candy notes with a touch of vanilla. Candied oranges and gentle red pine. Medium bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel. The texture is awfully heavy for an IPA, but the richness and softness of the malt body is admittedly rather pleasant. Malty caramel, toffee, and nutty almond bread up front on the palate, but a substantial dose of citrusy red grapefruit rind hops add enough bitterness to scrub the palate clean. Lingering west coast hop flavors in the finish. Like pretty much every Nogne O beer, this is flawlessly executed, but simply misses the mark for my stylistic preference.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Hazy amber color, thin head with noticeable lacing. For an IPA, it has a light hop flavor with a high amount of maltiness. I enjoyed it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy amber, moderate head with decent lacing and retention. Aroma is richly cascade, with some sweeter fruity hop notes as well. Medium bodied, bittersweet finish. Solid IPA.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Finally, my first nogne - I can’t wait to try it! Nice hazy amber/brown coloured body with a largish white head - a bit dark for an american IPA. Aroma of fresh grassy and grapefruity hops, coupled with nuts and a slight taint of yeast. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong high a.a. hops up front with a good malt backbone and a very mild nuttiness. Aftertaste shows some alcohol, potent toffee and even a bit of kick from the hops. Overall, a good IPA - not as ’crazy’ as a west-coast IPA, but good to try from Norway. I can’t wait for the rest! I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from West Lakeview Liquor in Chicago, Illinois on 25-December-2007.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Murky red brown amber with unimpressive head. Smell is highly soapy-hops. Palate is surprisingly carbonated for what I was expecting. Taste is slightly medicinal up front. However - it is nice and hoppy in the flavor overall. Bitterness is nice and not overly heavy.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy orange color with big chunks of yeast sediment floating about. Aroma is of resinous piney hops with some light notes of lemon grass and a bit of alcohol coming through. Taste is resinous hops, pine, lemongrass, some malty earthiness and some light spiciness. Carbonation is a bit flat for my liking. The alcohol is, for the most part, well hidden. All and all, this is a good beer, but it doesn’t fit the IPA profile IMHO. It’s more of an NSA (Norwegian Strong Ale).

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy amber with a lot of particulate. They claim that it is very bitter but it does not smell that way, it smells pretty malty with only a slight hop bitterness. It is bitter up front and then finishes with a slight caramel or bread malt-like taste. Expected it to be a bit better.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Pours a amber haze with a nice beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is sweet and malt with bits of citrus. Flavor is smooth and malty with a sweeter presence than bitter hops. A soft IPA, but very drinkable.
