500ml bottle at home. Pours hazy orange with a thin white head. Aromas of resin, orange and pot pourri. Taste has a honeyed sweetness, some bitterness but not quite enough to make it pleasant. A bit cloying. Ok, not a lager though.

Bottle from BOE, split at JF’s, 03/11/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with a big old white head. Nose is fresh all over, toasted malts, citrus zest, caramel malt, light cereal notes, bitter orange. Taste comprises caramel malt, good hoppy backbone, light grapefruit, bitter orange, soft bread dough, mandarin, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp and clean with subtle hop bitterness in the finale. Decent work.

On keg at the Holyrood 9A. Appearance - cloudy amber to orange with good head. Nose - oranges, some earthiness, perhaps a bit of spice. Taste - oranges, apricots and a malty backbone. Palate - medium bodied, with a rich texture, but got cloying after a quarter of a pint. Overall - interesting beer, but needs to be more drinkable.

(Rating #5071)

pours clear medium dark golden with a small off-white cap, some retention and lacing. pine needles infused in lightly boozy lager fruitiness, some caramel and nuts, astringent tea, muted citrus, grainy toastiness, peppery yeastiness. some sweetness. average carbonation, light body - oily and a tad too sweet, short and assertive grassy-spicy-piney finish. not so fresh (yeasr old), nicely done but meh, not my style.

Bottle. Hazy amber beer with a strong white head. The aroma is well hopped, and the flavour is deeply hopped, dry and bitter with a cooling feel. Overall a really good well hopped and dry beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A supposedly lager that tastes like a standard well-hopped fruity IPA. Good beer.
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed more than one year before expiration date.
The look: Mostly clear golden-orange body topped by a persistent small off-white head.
In long: The hop forward nose is very fruity (citrusy, a bit tropical) as well as piney and with also a spicy edge. Taste is citrusy hops on top, tropical hops not far behind, a little doughy sensation (yeast? malts?), crunchy bread crust, some floral honey, dry grass, mineral water. Carbonation is a bit too much, almost like a soda-pop, hard to keep the beer in the mouth. I didn’t find any lager characteristic in this beer, even the mouthfeel was very much ale. A bitterness level in the medium range and a bit more spicy in the finish than I like my IPAs to be. Overall, an average India Pale Ale (even if not technically an IPA). Nothing remarkable here but I’d drink this everyday anyway, I love beer, I love beer so much, my family knows I have a drinking problem but they don’t know how bad it is, more than once I have considered telling my wife I’m giving up beer drinking, watch her have a heart attack, collect the insurance money, buy lots of beer.
