Bottle @ Apotekergården, Grimstad. Pours golden with a nice, white head. Aromas of citrus fruits and grassy hops. Pleasant bitterness. Nice mouthfeel, medium body. Good balance. I wanted this to be more hoppy, but it’s a great lager :-)

Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap ($10): Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is citrus hops, akin to an IPA, but with a clear lager element as well. The taste is a seemless blend of superb lager with well-crafted IPA. The fruity elements stand out and deliver, while maintaining excellent light, lager mouthfeel. I liked it a lot.

Pours a hazy amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is malt, fruit, caramel, grass with hints of hops. Taste is medium sweet leading to a moderate bitter finish. Interesting idea; I would still take an IPA over this, though.

Tap at Crowbar, january 8th 2012. Hazy dark golden body, big beige head. Aroma is hoppy; floral, tropical fruits, some grass. taste of the same tropical fruits, crisp malt, the yeast characteristic is doing a very good job keeping it dry at the same time, while bitterness is not overdone it certainly plays a big part here. Good body, and of course it finishes in a very hoppy way, peach and grass.

Very cloudy straight orange, very much orange actually even though we tend to use that colour descriptor rather loosely. I’m a sucker for hoppy lagers and on the nose, this one showceases very forward hops - piney, resinous and very tropical rather than simply citric. Beautiful mango and tangerine notes. In mouth, I don’t find the same vibrant, even juicy fruit notes; resinous notes pretty much dominate whilst supporting malts including a good touch of caramel ones procure a fair body that did not feel necessary to me, but then again, was never annoyingly sweet, mostly providing texture. A bit perplexing, there is very little lager character remaining, its sulfury subtleties being masked by the dominating hops and unfortunately, they don’t make as nice an impression in mouth, providing more bitterness than flavour, than they did in the nose.
