COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Christmas product is indeed a result of Norwegian legislation. Beers above 4,75% alc./vol. has to be sold through the “Vinmonopolet” which is a government owned chain of outlets selling alcoholic beverages. 98 % of all beer is sold in grocery stores and supermarkets, and as such 98% of all beer sold is below 4,75% abv. The traditional Norwegian Christmas Beer is strong, but because people do not shop their beers in Vinmonopolet, they do not sell well. To be able to reach out to the masses with a Christmas beer, we have brewed Julesnadder to be a light but nutty and malty ale to go well with those rich, greasy Norwegian Christmas dishes. Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F.

Ingredients: Maris Otter-, Munich, caramel, black, amber, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Cascade hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

Dark brown with a rich tan head. Intense chocolate aroma. Dark burnt malts. The bitterness from the american hops used in this beer dominate. The hops suppress the malt which is unfortunate. Thin body.

500 ml bottle. Batch 317. Finland. Dark reddish brown colour with medium tan head. Nutty chocolate aroma. Dry and bitter flavour has some coffee and mild hops. Roasted. I’m a bit late since this is Christmas beer. Not bad but I could live without.

500ml bottle. Aroma is quite roasted, sweet - chocolate to caramel like. Dark colour, brown head. Taste is also roasted, somehow dry and a has a nice bitterness at the end. A nice beer, but not a favourite.

I was a bit surprised to see this identified as a porter; we had pegged it (not knowing) as a winter ale, it was pretty nondescript. Hazy brown with a touch of gray (dirty potato). Dusty, a touch of cigarette ashes, on a basic underlying malty backbone. Dry finish. But thin, too--frothy but not hanging around on the palate.
