COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Christmas product is indeed a result of Norwegian legislation. Beers above 4,75% alc./vol. has to be sold through the “Vinmonopolet” which is a government owned chain of outlets selling alcoholic beverages. 98 % of all beer is sold in grocery stores and supermarkets, and as such 98% of all beer sold is below 4,75% abv. The traditional Norwegian Christmas Beer is strong, but because people do not shop their beers in Vinmonopolet, they do not sell well. To be able to reach out to the masses with a Christmas beer, we have brewed Julesnadder to be a light but nutty and malty ale to go well with those rich, greasy Norwegian Christmas dishes. Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F.

Ingredients: Maris Otter-, Munich, caramel, black, amber, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Cascade hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

11P 25 IBU 4,5% ABV.

Well, the label is all in Norwegian, but I’m fairly certain it says batch # 209 on it - dark ruby pour, with a compact but lasting off-white head - quite apparent english ale yeast and doughy character in the aroma, along a hard water/mineral smell, light chocolate, mild herbal notes and moderate spices (nutmeg/cinnamon) - strong, dry marris otter flavor - seems very scottish ale-like, with a mild roastiness, and indistinguishable herbs and spices far in the background - moderate bitterness compliments the dryness - mild cocoa flavors, some munich malt fruitiness, and subtle doughy character break through the initial dryness - a little bit thin, but a nice, quaffable Christmas brew.

Bottle 0,5l. It poured a black colour medium beige thick head. Aroma of spices, smoke, caramel and hops. It has a flavour of caramel, smoke, coffee, roasted malt with a bitter undertone. It has a lingering aftertaste. RateBeer says this a porter. For that I think it was a bit watery. The bottle says it is a dark ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of Yngwie, vintage 2004. Clear dark reddish brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, chocolate, a little roasted malt and a bit oxidized. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and roasted light bitter finish. For a 2004 beer with a low ABV this has held up really well. 271112

Beautyfull rich dark body. Nutty aroma, I like. This is good, I like the fizz and the complex flavour. Dry finish, but whitout the metallic taste these beers sometimes tend to have. I really hope we get to see this one again sometime.
