COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imagine that the German have come up with a high alpha fruity hop! "Could that be right?" we asked ourselves. We were in luck to get 100 kgs. The new wonder hop bears the name Mandarina, and it’s presently not commercially available. And how could we present this hop with all it’s glory? By brewing an IPA of course. Please welcome Mandarina IPA.

Tap East Birthday Bash. Keg. Very hazy amber beer with a small white head. Palate is smooth with good fine minerally carbonation. Light malt cream and a little lactose. Hops are indeed quite mandarin along with a little tangerine and a touch of orange. Whisper of lemon. Smooth and lightly crisp finish. If this had had more hop intensity it would have been stellar, but it is a tasty IPA.

Bottle. It pours an unclear, orange body and a dense, finger-thick off-white head. The aroma is very orangey, with green pine cones, tropical fruit notes and some malty hints. The flavor is pretty much the same, with a delicate bitterness doing what it can to overpower the sweetness. Full body with a soft and smooth carbonation. Lasting finish with a good bitterness and a solid dose of oranges. A pleasant one indeed, hoping to see this on my local soon. 130729

Bottled 500ml @Konttori batch #991
Hazy deep orange color, goos steady beige head. Strong "hop oily" aroma, similar gooseberry bush than in Sorachi Ace, or maybe it’s mandarin! Medium-bodied. Quite malty beer with fruity, a bit candyish base with pine needles and citrus.

Keg at the Tap East Second Anniversary Party - Stratford, London. Cheers, Kenny! Pours cloudy, rich gold with a creamy, white head. Sweet and bready, with notes of caramel and ripe orange. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with ripe orange and other citrus fruits, more bread and mild caramel. It’s a tasty beverage but it lacks grace.
