Nøgne did a good effort in shaking up the milde ale style. But although it’s relatively nice, it also shows there’s not a whole lot you can do with this style. They should rename it to ’boring ale’.

Fra fat på Cardinaltreff des-10: mørkebrun med litt skum. Fruktig og floral aroma med litt sjokolade. Noe røstet malt i tillegg i smaken (nøtter og sjokolade).

Keg at Brewdog. brown with a cream head. Light malt with light hops leading to a lightly bitter finish. An unremarkable beer. Particularly by Nogne standards.

On keg at The BrewDog Bar, Edinburgh. Pours a cloudy dark brown colour with a fair light tan head. Aroma of pine, pineapple, caramel, chocolate and alcohol. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel.

Fad: Sortbrun uklar øl med et fint skumhoved. Duften er let humlet, med en ristet karakter. Smagen er dejlig ristet og let maltet, med et fint humlebid. God øl.

On tap. Pours a cloudy opaque dark brown with a creamy beige head. Discreet chocolatey aroma. Fairly light in body, a little chocolate and a little nuts. A light late malt tartness but nothing too disturbing. Finishes dry with some hoppiness. 230112

Borefts Beer Festival 3. Opaque dark brown beer, big pale tan head. Light crisp palate, mild carbonation. Very light malt, mild minerals. Enough hop to impart a little bitterness in the dry finish. Somewhat ephemeral!
