Riktigt mörk med litet moccafärgat skum. Inte en favoritporter. Inslag av koldoft tillsammans med de rostade tonerna.

Bottle from Alexander Wines, Coventry, drank at The Penguin with Octo and Dirtman; "Violets growing out of a cowpat aroma, rust. Pitch with a thick nicotine head. Milky, rusty...nice blackcurrant undercurrents. Coal-dusted. Really good coal-dusted liquorice notes. Light sulphur." That’ll do.

500 mL bottle from Grape & Gourmet. Dark brown, nearly black, pour with a creamy tan head. The aroma is of rich coffee and chocolate and is slightly boozy. Wonderful flavor of dark chocolate, smoke, and roasted coffee with hints of dark fruit. While there is no burn from the alcohol, as I thought might be the case judging from the aroma, there is an extra level of warmth and a bit more body than many porters. Without question this is one of the finest porters I have ever tried.

[keg at Bacchus, Newcastle] Deep, rich brown pour from the keg, good head. Roasty aromas, albeit cold from the keg. Once the beer warms, the malt component comes out even more. Plenty of alcohol in there, finish is long and roasty, some stone fruit in evidence. Love the aftertaste, which is heavy on the mocha flavours [12112011]

50 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori, Tampere. Batch #406. Brewed on 21.01.2009, BBE 21.01.2014.

Pours dark ruby re colour with medium head. Aroma of lots of berries like bilberry, mild roasted malts, light chocolate, dry mocha-like coffee and light caramel. Flavour of bilberries, toasted malts, mild coffee, chocolate and mild toffee at the end. Smooth palate with a surpisingly berry-like flavour. Balanced and very drinkable brew.

Bottle. Aroma has plumes, maybe yhe age (2009). Smells like a barley wine. Taste roasted malts, some licorice. Not Bad.

Nice porter. Malts are specific to a lot of scandanavian dark beers that I enjoy. A nutty spicy flavor matches well with the roasty flavors of the porter. Quite good.

Pours black with thin charcoal head. Aroma is dark chocolate, smokeyness, caramel and coffee. Taste is sweet with a coffee bitter finish. Smooth and oily mouthfeel. Overall this is a great porter.
