500 ml. bottle. Shared with Gabe. Pours an exuberant mocha head, with some lacing, over a dark black/brown (SRM 38) slightly cloudy body.....nose is coffee, cocoa, some grain....taste is coffee, cocoa, with heavy bitterness....mouth feel is medium, carbonation high. The bitterness from the roasted malts was out of balance with the rest of the ingredients. I wonder if the bottle was off, given the descriptions of other reviewers.

24/06/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Vellutata, morbida, assolutamente bevibile, corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Tra le migliori porter mai bevute. Al palato è stratosferica, vellutata e preziosissima. Una meraviglia.

pours coal black, huge light brown fluffy head. great retention. on the nose, milk thistle, sweet fruity esters, smoked malts, roasted coffee beans, chocolate. once on the palate, cola, coffee bitterness, pepper, vanilla, hazelnut. lots of carbonation and lighter bodied. smooth and developed as it warmed. Quite good.

2008 Vintage 50 cl. bottle @ home – batch 377 / bottled on 18.08.2008 – purchased @ Alvinne – dark black with a creamy mocha head – smells like molasses, coffee, berries, dark fruits & slight spices - slightly emptied out in the front due to the aging leading into grounded / grainy coffee mixed with a touch of red wine (main flavours), molasses, slight chocolate & hint of cold, stale coffee, hint berries, sweet mixed with a touch ashy bitterness, definitely vintage, touch too long aged, slightly vintage, creamy body, carbonation touch softened

Draught @ The Rover. Pours dark reddish brown, almost black, with a creamy mocha head that clings to the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet with roasted malts, sweetened coffee, liquorice toffee and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet with roasted malts, coffee, liquorice, vanilla, milk chocolate, wood and raisins. Finish is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with coffee and liquorice.

Black, with a huge brown head. Really big. Powerful like a gorilla. Smells milky, chocolatey, and some vanilla, too. Hints of coffee. Smooth, rich palate. More milky chocolate, coffee and vanilla in the aroma. Very tasty stuff.

A fine refinement of the typical porter profile. It’s got all the malty, coffee and chocolate favours you’d expect.

On tap. Black with thin head. Heavy malts. Licorice and wheatabix. A little oily. Alcohol taste. Nice enough, but nothing special.
