0.5L poured deep dark amber with frothy malted milk shake head. Chewy aroma of molasses, chocolate, coffee, burnt malts and a hint of vanilla. The flavor starts with roasted to burnt malts. The dry maltiness slowly bleeds into sweet and syrupy notes starting with coffee then rolling into molasses, sweet chocolate, a hint of sweet caramel and an even fainter hint of dark fruit. I love the way it begins in standard porter fashion and then adds malty sweetness and smooth complexity as the taste progresses. In the after taste I’m left with a classic porter black patent burnt malt flavor. As it warms I get freshly cooked brownies and dark fruit compote.

Bottle at Nnudd tasting. Courtesy of Yngwie. Poured black with a medium beige head. In nose licorice and roasted malts. Medium bodied. It tastes like licorice, bitter chocolate and roasted malts. I thought it would be more complex but pretty good porter.

500ml bottle, batch No. 60 from Feb.04 (bb.22.02.2007). Ruby black coloured. Brownish head mostly diminishing but leaving nice filigranes on the glass. Appealing roasted malty aroma. Well rounded flavour with a solid taste of dark burnt chocolate. Nice bittersweet aftertaste. Very good after more than a year in the cellar.

Bottle. Rich brown beer with red tinges and a tan head. Big roasty aroma with coffee. Chocolate/roast flavor with no hrashness and backing hops. Lingering sweet chocolate malt. Medium body. Like most of their beers I’ve tried, it’s well balanced.

Pours totally cloudy black with lacing, nice looks. Sublime nose of well-constructed sweet malts and baked dried fruits. Some alcohol detectable and adds warmth. Super mouthfeel. Tastes a lot like an imperial stout and is quite roasty.

Black body topped by a long-lasting medium tan head. Dark cookie malts, dates and some black liquorice are the main flavours. Far from an intense beer it is rather soft overall. The body is somewhat creamy although the mouthfeel is surprisingly pretty dry. Gentle medium carbonation. Nice by-the-number porter that only stands out because of a dryer than average mouthfeel. Very little hops presence. The only thing that may leave a bitter after-taste here is paying the high price-tag.

Poured a deep. dark mahogany color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt, roast, nuts, ashy smoke, and some anise. Taste of more chocolate, roasted malts, and some dried fruits, with a creamy mouthfeel.
