3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 OleR (3510) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 24, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2006 Bottle. Pours as black as it gets with a creamy light brown head lasting for a couple of minutes. Sweet roasted malt in the aroma. Also burnt coffee, licorice and even tar. Flavor is roasted malt and coffee as well, with hints of bitter chocolate. Long finish with a nice tip-of-the-tongue bitterness. Oily mouthfeel. A powerful Porter from the enthusiasts at Nøgne Ø. But if somebody insisted that this was a Stout, I probably would believe them.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sigmund (3495) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - NOV 20, 2003
UPDATED: APR 5, 2006 Rerate cask, courtesy of Cardinal, Stavanger. Same as the b.c. version, but with a minimal head, as no sparkler was used. Good beer! Original rating: (500 ml bottle). Bottle condtioned. Pours with an excellent thick & tan head. Pitch black, even when held to the light. In a blind test I’d probably say this was a stout (not Guinness!), maybe even an imperial. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, cigar box, English pipe tobacco and dark bitter chocolate. Flavour is again roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Not too sweet, excellent bitterness where you can sense the hops as well as the roasted malts.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 douglas88 (3483) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - JUN 13, 2011
Tall 500 ml bottle thanks to Nate. Pours a pure black color with a medium brown head. A smooth nose of chocolates, some metal and light hops. The flavor is full of slightly sour dark fruits, dry chocolate, roasted malts, metallic roasted flavors, a light lingering bitter fruit and hops. Nice. A very smooth and enjoyable brew.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 maniac (3474) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 8, 2008
Dark brown body with light ruby highlights, and a large creamy tan head. Chocolate and roasted malt aroma with some caramel hints. Big roasted malt flavor with chocolate notes and more faint caramel and light molassas and a reasonable bitter finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a smooth chocolately finish.

Nice smoky, light chocolate aroma. Good chewy solid flavor, not too sweet, really a porter that makes the top of the list.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 nick76 (3461) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 9, 2008
The aroma has chocolate, toasted malt, and milk. The appearance is dark brown with a tan head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s pretty good.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jukkabro (3457) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 2, 2006
Black colored, medium sized beige head. Aroma has sweetness, plums, chocolate and some roastiness, mild alcohol also there. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is richer than aroma: chocolate dominates, roastiness, coffee, sweetness and medium alcohol. Aftertaste dries to have bitter and alcoholic touch, hops there with slight chocolate. Good flavored, slightly too thin aromated porter.
