Red with orange hues at the dge, some ring of head. Cool bottle color scheme. The aroma is like drinking a cup of coffee in the marine house (penguin exhibit) at the zoo, such is the mix of aromas. An average palate with moderate carbonation and low bitterness in the finish, with some roasted qualities but not to the exclusion of more diverse inspirations.

Bottle. Bountiful dark chocolate aroma, very nutty with a good amount of toffee and even more roast. Sticky ripe fruits there, too, with some milk chocolate and malted milk balls. Opaque black pour, even under light, with a gorgeous lacing, rocky, creamy tanned/light brown head. Robust, very dry roast flavor, strongly nutty with slight breadiness and hefty chocolate. Faint tongue-prickling, probably from the Centennial. Faint hint of salty licorice. Smooth and silken, but very thin-bodied, almost watery at times. Aftertaste is dry and slightly salty, lots of nutty roast and slight, dark warmth. Solid, repeatable porter - but just barely misses out on Greatness.

Nice chocolate coffee, oak and vanilla, creme brulée, milky. Smooth and creamy. Dark black-red with light foamy tan head. Medium-thick body with light carbonation. Starts with coffee chocolate malt, light acidic, smoky and silky. Finish is deep sweet bitter, a sour tang and light smoke. After is light tang, bitter, with chocolate. A very nice porter.

500mL bottle. Pours a dark, brownish-orange color; small, light-tan head with a bit of lacing. Lots of cocoa powder and burnt / charred malts in the aroma; pleasant smokiness, with a fair bit of alcohol. Medium, roasted malt and bitter chocolate mouthfeel: citrus hops and a burnt malt / smoke character poking through as well; nicely balanced and drinkable. Medium, burnt and roasted malt finish.

Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective Porter tasting at Dogbricks on 12/4/08. Pours opaque dark brown with a small tan head. Malty aroma with some roastiness and chocolate. Smoky and roasty flavor, but not a whole lot else going on.

Bottle (batch no.262) shared with ozujsko, received in a trade with oh6gdx.
Opaque black colour, cappuclino like tan head that went away slowly. The nose is almost all chicory with a hint of chocolate, and the taste isn’t far off; strong chicory, a weak note of chocolate, a touch of alcohol. Not extremely complex but still a nice porter.
