snuck this one on the plane back from vacation. aroma (through the huge pillowy head) of milk chocolate, roasted malts and light coffee. medium bodied with a creamy mouth feel (don’t know if i like that in a porter???). flavor is initially coffee and dark malts. as it warms, it develops some red wine characteristics nuttiness and some ashiness. leaves a burnt coffee flavor in my mouth. missing that bitter/acidic/bitey flavor in most porters....very smooth and creamy

This one was alright, it didn’t have the chocolatey characters that I expect coming through so much, some coffee notes and a little burnt character, thin sometimes then not so and didn’t notice it was 7% but I drank it easy and fairly enjoyed it.

Bottle. Pours black with a moderate light brown head that faded fairly quickly to a thin brown film. Very nice aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee. Not quite as flavorful as the aroma would indicate. Roasted malt was the dominant flavor along with some bitter coffee and tobacco. Very light vanilla flavor comes through near the finish. A solid porter, but it seems a bit over-hyped.

Dark brown pour with a frothy light brown head, the flavor is dry & roasty. The body is medium and a tad thin on the palate. It’s nice & easy drinking.

Glad to see this in NC. Pours a dark black (really dark for a porter) and shows a little light around the edges. The head is medium, tan, creamy. The aroma shows roasted coffee and chocolate immediately, sweet, light alcohol. Malt predominant. The hops don’t show until you taste it and then only barely. Tastes sweet, some molasses/brown sugar, roasted chocolate and coffee again, light light alcohol, some mild hop bitterness at the back of the mouth. Smooth roasted palate that finishes nicely. Excellent porter.

Really burnt and bitter. Not my thing, but loads of malt - it’s actually like a stout.

Dark with a slight acidity on pouring. Well rounded and dangerously understated for a 7 per center.Quite malty and some coffee preasence as well. Interesting label for an intersting beer.

(bottle - 500 ml) Dark black pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma is heavy roasted malts with a lot of coffee aroma as well. Flavor begins with a roasted and slightly sweet malt taste that goes smoothly to a roasted and burnt malt/coffee middle. Finishes strong with a heavy roast and bitter note. Hops are subdued and the body is smooth and silky. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a bit. Nice porter.
