Pours with a dark brown to black body topped by a thin to medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. It is slightly sweet yet slightly bitter with a light chocolate note and a touch of roast. Full bodied, smooth and a touch warming.

Bottled 50cl. It pours a pitch black beer with a full beige head. Good head retention. Some nice lacework. Sweet nose which is mainly of pumpernickel and roasted malt accompanied by grapefruit. The taste is of roasted malt, pumpernickel and rose. Sweet. Some tar and licorice showing up. Good bitterness. Nicely balanced. The finish is rather pleasant with hints of pumpernickel, grapefruit, syrup and rose. Thanks a lot larsga for this beer!

Shared by Rob on 3/15/2007... Nøgne Ø Porter is a very, very dark brown beer that is extremely opaque. The pour produces a compact, but dense tan head that seems to have a slight purple hue to it. Coffee is prominate in the aroma with a hint of chocolate and ripened fruit. The flavor is robust and quite complex as it shifts from coffee to bittersweet chocolate to dark, aged fruit. A subtle anise flavor is also detectable after the temperature of the beer rises some. The finish has a rich semi-sweet chocolate flavor with some roasted malt/coffee bitterness. The body of this beer is full and the mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. Nøgne Ø Porter is an very well made and well banaced beer that reminds me more of a stout than a porter... 25 oz bottle from River’s Bend Wine and Spirits. Specifics: 16.5 Plato, 30 IBU, 7% ABV.

Dark chocolate and toffee nose with charred oak undertones. Very dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Dry flavor of charcoal, strongly bitter, but tastefully so. Pretty boring overall.

Poured a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is mostly of coffee and some caramel. Taste is also mainly coffee but a bit watery for my expectations.

1 pt .9 fl oz bottle from Blue Max in Burnsville, MN. Pour is a deep brown with red highlights. Head is khaki and about 1/2 inch tall. Aroma is licorice, hops and roasted malt. The taste starts with a very nice roastiness, plenty of malt, some hop bitterness and then finishes with a strong coffee flavor. Really nice palate to this one, solid, but not overly huge. Really picks up flavor as it warms. Nice beer.

(Bottle) Pours black with a light brown head. Roasted and lightly burned aroma with coffee, very dark chocolate and plums. Light sweet with a syrupy touch. Undertones of liquorice root and metal. Dark chocolate flavour with some light salty liquorice and raisins. Light bitter and sugary with hints of alcohol in the finish. Medium body.
