Tap @ Håndverkerstuene, Oslo. Pours pitch black with a small brown head leaving lace. Aroma is roasted malty, dry, coffee, licorice and hoppy. Flavor is lean and balanced malty, roasted, coffee, licorice, bitter, slightly fruity and a bit sweet. Finishes with a good bitter tart aftertaste. Very drinkable, not too heavy.

Dark pitch black color, with a tan colored head, roasted malt, black coffee nose with a dark chocolatey, roasted coffee bean accent, with a mild molasses, burnt dried dark fruity note of raisins, dates and plums, and a faint licorice spicy aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, molasses, roasted malt, dark chocolate character, with a black coffee, faint mochaish flavor, with a hint of licorice spiciness and burnt fruitiness leading towards a fruity, chocolatey, lingering roasted bitterness finish.

Pours a murky dark espresso brown with a lovely light creamy tan head. Sweet molasses aroma, bakers chocolate and lots of fresh hops. Rich chocolate, condensed milk, floral hops, a bit vinous and nutty, light coffee and molasses, complex and definitely Nogne. Medium/light body with silky tingling carbonation. Easy drinking Porter that could easily be a Brown Ale. Really a well done brew.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2007 Bottle from Quake1028, which was a BONUS! Thanks! Pours black with a brown creamy retentive head. Roasty and chocolately aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor of burnt malts, coffee, and chocolate. Very bitter and dry finish, with some sourness and nutshell flavors at colder temps, and more expresso/ coffee grounds when warm. This is much bettter at cellar to room temperature. This may be a porter in body, but the robustness dances very close to stout territory. Overall, not too bad. I must admit that I was expecting this to be much better.

500 ml bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a medium sized diminishing tan head. The aroma is a little subdued but includes roasted malt and semi sweet chocolate. The flavor leans heavily to the roasted malt side, but also includes semi sweet chocolate, a touch of dark fruits, and a hint of licorice and vanilla. Maybe a touch thin, but very good otherwise. Could serve as a solid warmer weather dark beer.

A black appearance with a tan head. A roasty aroma with some coffee, chocolate, and other dark fruit. The flavor is somewhat bitter with some dark chocolate, coffee, and licorice notes. Overall this was a good porter.
