3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tjthresh (1840) - Greenfield, Indiana, USA - OCT 8, 2007
Bottle from Brewtopia in Omaha, NE
Pours opaque black with a brown head. Some lace, and the head lasted quite a while.
The aroma is mostly chocolate. Cocoa. Maybe a bit of Whoppers. A bit of grassy hop nose.
Very chocolatey flavor as well. There a welcome roasted bitter finish.
Nice milky texture. Some prickly carbonation.
This is a really good beer, I think it worth the 4.25 price tag. I’d sure like to see it in the KC area.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - AUG 23, 2009
Serving: 16.9 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Almost black with garnet highlights and a huge, creamy, light tan head. Great head retention and lacing.
Aroma: Lighter than expected nose. Roasted malt, coffee, earth, and mineral notes. A little difficult to get much else.
Taste: Sharp, upfront bitterness, roasted malt, a little caramel, mineral, nuts, and earth. Sort of there then gone except for the bitterness.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-rich mouthfeel and a medium, nutty finish.
Overall: A decent porter with a good palate, but muted aroma and flavor.
Rebuy: Worth trying but not rebuying.

bottle. pours a deep black with a tan head that lasts through most of the glass. Tremendous amount of malts in here.... also, coffee, fruits (slight plum) and chocolate. medium body, not too carbonated and very diverse. A very nice porter from Norway.... one of the best imo. complex, delicious and full of enjoyment.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jaghana (1803) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - NOV 21, 2010
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2010 Bottle 0.5L, batch 377, from Allen thanks very much. A dark beer with huge brownish head and good lacing. Smell is on toasted malt and chocolate. Woww a terrible beer, very creamy, nice dark chocolate notes and very smooth, no acidity not acrid. The malty side is well combined with a dry fruit and specially a dried prune dominant, the chocolate complexity is intense compare to the relatively low bitterness. Lovely porter a bit syrupy, the best I had, perfect brew for this alcohol level.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - JUL 6, 2005
Bottle. Tannic, chocolate cake, thin, caramel. Nothing mindblowing here. Yup. Thanks to Kristian for the beer!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 tgncc (1797) - Bellmore, New York, USA - SEP 9, 2008
Aroma of roasted coffe, and dark, sweet fruit. The apopearance is dark brown, with a purple tinge. The flavor is roasty to be sure, but with a steady component of fruity sweetness. The surprise here is the finish, it has a nice bite from hops which didn’t make themselves evident previously. Great porter.
