Beige head atop a black brew, aroma is very roasty and malty, milky. Flavor is the same, chewy, roasty and chalky. No sweetness with mild bitterness. Pretty dry in the palate. Bottle from Stop and Shop, Miami.

Tap at Brasserie V in a flight with #100 and the IPA - Pours dark and murky, with a nice foamy tan head that’s gone quickly. Smells of medium roast malt with nice, light smoke and a bit of lactose. Taste is smooth and roasty--nice bitter roast flavors mix with dark chocolate and smoke on the finish. It’s medium-bodied, though a bit watery, and very smooth. My favorite of the three Nogne beers I tried, though the IPA was close.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jesperhammer (1294) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 13, 2011
13-AUG-2011, bottle @home, from "Fish & Beer".
Black with huge very, very small bubbles, light brown head. Very smooth head, very wipped cream-like. That is a 5.
Roasted with chocolate and coffee - almost cafe latte or sweet espresso.
Somewhat burned but that sweet chocolate taste and texture balances that.
Long bitter finish with a berry note.
The smoothest of porter. Fantastic.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 POLK (1293) - Hørning, DENMARK - FEB 3, 2011
Good looking beer with a fine beautifull brown head. Very roasted aroma
Light body and, little to alcoholic for my taste.
I miss more body.
I dont understand this beer is among the best here at ratebeer, however Nøgne Ø is a good and very interesting brewery.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 darn1207 (1280) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 26, 2008
bottle. deep brown pour with a big fizzy tan head that never goes away completely. sweet coffee, bread and milk smells. little thinner than I was expecting (for some unknown reason) - but still had a chewy quality to it. tastes of dark fruits, toasted malts, dark chocolate and soy. interesting. not sure I’ve had a porter like this before. probably more complex than any I’ve had before - but maybe wouldn’t be dying to try again.
