Pours a completely black colour with a light brown head. Chocolate hints, dry fruits, plums and some caramel notes in the aroma. Light sweetness and medium bitterness in the taste. Round malty flavour, dark chocolate notes and some coffee too. Full body, creamy feel, soft carbonation and a long medium bitter and chocolatie-like finish. Another quality product from Nøgne Ø. Nice.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 TrefwoordPunk (652) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - JAN 22, 2008
Bottle 50 cl. Pours completely black with a small tan head and a coffee-like roasted aroma. The taste is more like mocca than espresso, very roasted and not really smooth, but in a good way. A bit sweet, with a long bitter finish. Good, but not groundbreaking
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Naka (630) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 14, 2008
Pours dark black color with a thick foamy beige head that disappears after a few seconds. The aroma is a sweet brown sugar and raisin with some whiskey notes to it. Has a deep malty coffee flavor with an almost bourbon aged flavor to it. I’m not sure if it is. The body is pretty creamy. As it warms, the coffee flavors come out more. It leaves a nice chocolaty bitter in the finish. An excellent porter.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tylerss20 (101) - New Hampshire, USA - JUL 21, 2008
Delicious. Tried this one after a disappointing left hand milk stout. Full, rich, slightly acidic. Chocolate, smoke, and a bit of bitter fruit is present throughout. Slightly harsh, and a surprising amount of hop for a porter. Overall, a wonderful brew. If it ever costs less than $11 a bottle, I’ll buy more.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 craftycarl21 (1591) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 29, 2009
pours jet black with a pretty tan head- looks like an impy. Aroma is very roasty and smoky, but lots of dark fruit, caramel, and a bit of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is huuuge with coffee and chocolate, and a beautiful silky smoothness that i love and that you can’t quite find in most stouts. Palate is luscious- damn good porter.
