Glad to see this in NC. Pours a dark black (really dark for a porter) and shows a little light around the edges. The head is medium, tan, creamy. The aroma shows roasted coffee and chocolate immediately, sweet, light alcohol. Malt predominant. The hops don’t show until you taste it and then only barely. Tastes sweet, some molasses/brown sugar, roasted chocolate and coffee again, light light alcohol, some mild hop bitterness at the back of the mouth. Smooth roasted palate that finishes nicely. Excellent porter.

500ml from Sam’s, Durham. Nice looking pour with a slightly too-modest head. The aroma is delectable, very chocolatey, and the rich flavors continue in the taste (along with a generous, and fairly unexpected bit of smoke and roast coffee). Lustrous mouthfeel initially, but tapers off and is a bit too thin, I think. Overall, though, it’s a lovely porter with complexity and power.

Poured deep brown-rubby-ish color with a decent tan head. Aroma was coffee. Flavor was coffee, nuts, light chocolate support, some licorice. Finishes with a touch of bitter roasted malts and light hops. Much more simple than I was expecting, yet very enjoyable. Mouthfeel was lightly carbonated, and very smooth.

Left me start this by saying, I drank this immediately after drinking the Olfabrikken Porter, so needless to say, it came in second. Pours a watery opaque black with a slightly off white head that faded quickly. Smells of roasted malt, sugar and dark fruits. Flavor is malty, but not too roasted, toffee, oranges and more dark fruit. Finish is smooth but a little watery. Very drinkable and pleasant.

Bottle at Trond’s house. Another quality product. Dark almost black liquid. Heavy and syrupy but oh so smooth. Creamy with chocolate, dark fruits, wheat and malt flavours. Really enjoyable porter. Quality blend of flavours.

pitch black with a very attractive thick and creamy white head. some hop and roasted notes to the nose. moderate mouthfeel. very nice flavor of some low crystal malt giving a nice sweetness with a lot of black patent character that makes the beer. some hop bitterrness comes through and maybe a little citrusy hop flavor from the American hops. a dry finish ends this very enjoyable robust porter. very good version

[EBF @ Copenhagen, September 2008] Cask condition porter. Small rocky beige head. Dark mahogany color. Aroma of mild wood, chocolate, coffee, hint of smoke. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation and mild dry quite smooth texture. Moderated sweet and bitter flavor in balance. Lingering smooth malty finish. Very drinkable.
