0.5l bottle from the LBCO. Served in a tulip. Pours an opaque dark brown, with a fine beige head. Aroma: Malt, grapes, coffee, roasted nuts. Palate: Thick, creamy, slightly oily finish, fairly fizzy. Taste: Sweet, slight bitterness in the finish. Really nice porter. Lots of flavours going on here, and the mix of sweet and bitter is nice.

Bottle. Aroma smoke, roasted, alcohol. Clear dark brown colour. Taste is malt-centered, but there is decent supporting bitterness. Smoked, chocolate, light light coffee. Overall smooth mouthfeel, no astringency, very easy drinking. Very good beer, long roasted finish.

Bortimot svart farge med beige skum. Lukter kaffe, karamell og svisker. Fyldig og nydelig i munnfølelse. Kaffe og fruktigheten kommer godt fram i smaken. Fin bitter avslutning. En meget god porter.

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks good; a cloudy dark cola with off-white lacing. Smells sold; dark malt, chocolate, and caramel. Tastes like it smells, but more roasty than sweet. Solid on the palate with a bit of bitterness. A nice porter.

Black, brown color with a small beige head. Black coffee, bready malts and a lot of smoke with hints of salt and toffee - unexpected smokiness which works exeptional well with the earthy, bitter character of this beer. Fantastic, very unexprected taste for a Porter. Fascinating interaction between bitter coffee and earthy, bready malts, coated up by sweet toffee hints. On top of that, there is a gentle smokiness wich adds a fantastic complexity to the beer, along with a chewy salt infusion. Those different tastes are in perfect balance, which leads to a enjoyable, complex, warm Porter with a soft, smooth mouthfeel. Unexpected bitter for a beer of this style, but very convincing, with smokiness acting as the cherry on top.

Fine example of a porter. Almost black with a good head and lacing, medium bodied with just the right amount of carbonation. Roasted malts arrive first on the nose, and mingle with milky coffee and chocolate in the taste. The tang of the fruit comes at the finish to round it off very nicely.

This beer is dark brown, almost black, ruby red against the light. The head is mocha colored, persistent and huge, leaving lacing. Aroma has chocolate, roasted malts, toffeey sweetness, latte coffee and some licoricy saltiness. Flavor is upfront roasted malty with coffee and bitterness. Palate is thicker than medium and soft with stinging bitterness. Finishes with heavy bitterness, ashy roastiness and acidic coffee. Alcohol heats but doesn’t taste or reek at all. A totally enjoyable porter that could also go for an American style Stout. BBE says this is 13 months old but the hops still make a great bitterness and it has not gone bad.
