My Bottom Line:
This Heller Bock’s doughy yeast and sugary cereals lazily greet herbal hops and their bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy golden. There is lots of yeast in the bottle; pouring carefully is important, otherwise the pils malt flavors get smothered.
-The soft carbonation feels natural.
-Alcohol warmth isn’t necessary.
-Overall, I feel like this is not compelling enough to be drunk as a sipper, and it’s far from refreshing too.
-Flavor definition is not optimal; I wonder if the longevity of this beer, as indicated on the bottle, is exaggerated.
-I guess ’Imperial Pilsner’ sells better than ’Heller Bock’ outside Germany?

Golden to straw yellow in colour with a medium sized white head. Carbonation was high, very yeasty aroma, definitely some wine tones from the yeast. Spicy Belgium aroma, getting some cloves and tartness. Body, slightly boozy sweet flavour, lots of fruits like red apple, pineapple and some caramel, some citrus and orange.

Shared bottle at Cardinal. Deep yellow color. Little aroma. Sweet; bitterness coming from Belgian yeast. Rather a Belgian triple than a pilsner beer.

Clear golden. White head. Sweet aroma and taste, with characteristics both of export pilsner and of an unexciting Belgian tripel. Sweet and round mouthfeel.

bb july 2014. pours hazy bright yellow with a very small white cap, no retention or lacing. white grapes - a lot, booze, very yeasty - in fact very belgian tripel-like aroma, floral, peppery, candi - smooth and doughy fruity lightly toasted malts, minty, juniper berries and other spices. low carbonation, tingling alcohol, medium body - oily, a bit of sweetness, relatively short grassy-spicy. not what i was expecting for an imperial pilsner but still enjoyable.
