3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle, 0.25 l - #12406 - Brewed 20/12/2011 - BBE 20/12/2016, from Alko Arkadia, 20130219) The beer poured reddish dark brown and clear. Its head was small, sparse and white. Aroma had fruitiness, sweetness, vineousness, malts and caramell. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramell, hops, fruitiness, vineousness, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty, sweet and bitter. My knowledge of Sake is next to nothing so I’m not able to notice the typical characteristics of that drink in this beer. There was somethign non-beer like here and there. But the heavy maltiness and strong hoppiness pushed this drink to the beer side. Still a weird experiment but better than the 1st edition.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
@ Stordirren; Lite diskret doft men en mycket fyllig och het smak med stora toner av frukt och nötter. Känner en tydlig smak av den spännande jästen. Mycket speciell, god men det räcker nog med ett litet glas. Tydlig portvinsvibbar.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice looking bottle in good looking metal case. Smells like sweet syrup, apricot, clementine and almonds. Taste is very fruity. There is apricot, pineapple, orange, sweet honey. Maybe some hint of spices.
As it warms up you can sense some alcohol, but I think it just adds to the taste. This got allot of the qualities of Nøgne Øs sake, and the mouthfeel is almost the same. Like a perfect blend I would say. I would love to eat sushi drinking this. People should have an open mind before drinking this beer though, it’s not for everyone.
For me this beer is incredible, unique and very very tasty. The only beers I could compare this with if you think of ABV and fruitiness is Red Horizon 3 and Samichlaus. This is much better than Samichlaus. A must buy if you see this somewhere.

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff jan-13: kveldens siste, og den var saliggjørende. Minner om en god belgisk tripel - søt, smaksrik og full av fruktige godheter. Og jeg har en flaske i kjelleren!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small beige head. Hazy deep red body with light carbonation.
Intensely fruity cough drops aroma with lime and licorice notes.
Bitter-sweet fruity peppery lime taste with polypodium
vulgare (sisselrot) notes. Full-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel,
slightly oily, with some alcohol heat. Bitterish earthy lime and
fruit aftertaste with sisselrot notes again. Like RH1 it tastes
like a vermouth, but in this case a slightly unclean, earthy one.
Very complex, full of aromas that are hard to identify. It’s a
really good and interesting beer, but sadly doesn’t rise even to
the ankles of RH1. (0.25l bottle, wine monopoly web order.)

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
250 ml bottle in silk paper and metal cylinder, #10654, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 13.5%, IBU 100. Cloudy dark reddish brown colour, low off-white head. Unusual aroma of red beets, cheap wine, mild spices and some fruit. Very sweet and alcoholic flavour, red beets and ripe berries, distinct hoppy bitterness in the finish. Not really my cup of tea, but worth a go.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a slightly hazy deep copper-hued amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma is complex, pungent and heavy, but very pleasant: jasmine, rose petals, peaches, vanilla, licorice, pine, apricot, hints of pineapple, herbs, wood and alcohol. Truly delicious in its strange, beckoning form. Taste definitely matches the aroma impression: loads of intertwining tastes of licorice, alcohol, vanilla, pine, rose water, peaches and hints of resin and estery pineapple and banana tones in the back. Full body, soft carbonation. A bit too alcoholic at the moment, which I suspect will be smoothed out with a bit of storage. Otherwise an absolutely fantastic sipper and a real original treat from Nøgne Ø. It’s good to see their sake adventures also seep into their beer selection.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Dark copper, thin laced beige head, wonderful laces. Smells of malts, yeast esters, some phenols, fantastic fruity aromas. Medium sweet, super fruity, some caramel, fantastic yeast flavors. Oily texture, medium bodied, flat carbonation. Moderate bitter finish. This beer is awsome. The sake yeast really makes this something special. Fantastic and fruity. Glad they only malde it a 13.5 abv; much more drinkable than the strong sibling RH1, and better too
