COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed this ale with the famous sake yeast No 7 from Masumi Sake in Nagano, Japan. On advise from Masumi’s master brewers, we fermented this ale very slowly at low temperatures to bring out No 7’s fabulously fruity character. This product is unfiltered and unpasteurized. Please enjoy chilled! Special thanks to Masumi!

250 ml bottle in silk paper and metal cylinder, #10654, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 13.5%, IBU 100. Cloudy dark reddish brown colour, low off-white head. Unusual aroma of red beets, cheap wine, mild spices and some fruit. Very sweet and alcoholic flavour, red beets and ripe berries, distinct hoppy bitterness in the finish. Not really my cup of tea, but worth a go.

dried fruits, yeasty, some caramel, maybe rice, floral, alcohol; dirty brownish color, hazy, just a thin ring of foam; high sweetness, medium(+) bitterness; full body, thick and oily feel, some alcohol warmness, soft carbonation, long bittersweet finish; Overall: complex aroma, rich in taste, great palate, fantastic packing

This beer is like a bomb! It detonates in your mouth as nitroglycerine! It’s strong, it’s heavy, it’s cool!!

Bottle from Beer Cartel (April 2014). Murky mid-brown, zero head, some visible yeast clumps, earthy, musty, intense caramel/chocolate, liqueur-soaked prunes, dense fruit cake, alcohol warmth, slick, syrupy texture. Not my thing.

Bottle beautifully wrapped in red tissue paper and packed in a tin red box. Surprising cloudy brown colour. Smell of litchee, of smoke, of miso. Dry and light as sake in the beginning. Marked sweetness, umami taste. Just love it.

Brown beer with a minimal head and floating flakes of yeast.Intense caramel and dried and ripe fruits on the nose.Medium sweet, earth, mould, ash, dried fruits, light sourness. Medium body, light carbonation. Weird at first but this is actually a really good and interesting beer.

250mL bottle, pours a very muddy, murky reddish brown with a miniscule head. Nose brings out notes of oxidation, liqueur, caramel and candied dark fruits -- I guess I get some sake yeast in there, but that could be confirmation bias. Flavour is rich and sweet, with caramel, sugary sweet fruitiness, and muddy yeast. There is a bit of a liqueur-like ABV burn on the finish, but it’s nothing overbearing. The sweetness is a bit too much for me and the palate is too yeasty. Nice attempt, but needs tweaking.

Bottle. Pours deep golden with a tiny off-white head. Aroma of malt, bred, yeast, slight minty note and caramel. Flavor is sweet and malty with some warming notes, caramel, yeast and nuts. Medium to full body, soft carbonation.

.25l bottle from Alko Arkadia Pours cloudy dark orange with low head. Aroma is dried fruits, alcohol, malts, syrup notes, caramel, flowers and some hops. Flavor is caramel, malts, syrup, nutty, some alcohol, plums, dried fruits and dark fruits. Silky palate, alcohol is well hidden. Swell!

What a treat (thanks me). The first half of the bottle poured rosewood in colour with excellent clarity and an aggressive white head that quickly dissipated. The aromas came out with vibrant fruity esters, aromas of cherries and fresh flowers. Its mouthfeel was silky, somewhat sweet and generous. Fruity flavours abound with poached pears, cherry tart and fat juicy plums. The finish dwelt on those dessert flavours. A good alternative to port, this one.
