250mL bottle, pours a very muddy, murky reddish brown with a miniscule head. Nose brings out notes of oxidation, liqueur, caramel and candied dark fruits -- so far seems identical to Red Horizon 2. Flavour is perhaps more robust and less cloying, with notes of candied fruits, caramel malts, alcohol and brown sugar. Rather sweet, but not cloying. Not sure what is different about this -- maybe more hops to balance, though I can’t really tell. All in all, more drinkable than Red Horizon 2. Nice stuff in small amounts - thankfully this only comes in a small bottle, but the price they charge for this is ridiculous.

Bottle.Pours deep golden with a tiny off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruitiness, yeast, rice and red berries. Flavor is sweet and malty with some warming alcohol, rice yeast and fruitiness. Medium to full body, soft carbonation.

On tap at Cafe Sara, september 19th 2014. Dark amber body with a small offwhite head. Aroma of fruit, something sweet muffinlike, berries. Taste of sweet fruits, bread, ash, marzipan. Good fruity and slightly boozy finish.

Head gone in secs, reduced to rim around brownish, unclear beer. Fruity nose, but as fruitsweets, bit artificial, oxydized too. In the Japanese mode, I’m thinking of their dried or preserved prunes. I blame the sake yeast. Alcohol, some fusels, yeasty and very fruity esters (plums, dried peach,...) and really sweet. Bit of liquorice, and faint, periferal (fruity) acidity. Long dry-bitterish, bit spicy finish; whilst in the aftertaste, the characteristic benzene flavour, hallmark of sake, appears. Very slick, oily feel; well-bodied; alcoholwarming. Certainly not bad - but I prefer more conventional beer yeasts, I’m afraid.

Bottle. Unclear amber with an offwhite head. Sweet dark syrup, vinous notes, raisins and hints of mild yeastyness in aroma. Mmm, nice, feels soft and smooth. Light smokyness even in taste at first, but more of them sweeter dark fruitier notes and vinous ones in taste takes over later on. Nice as a sipper though. The light old wooden cellar smokyness adds a nice touch here.

Foffern (1252) - Bodø, NORWAY - SEP 15, 2014
Bottle at home. The colour is deep amber with a small, off-white head that fades fast. Sweet aroma of caramel, leather, oak, alcohol and hops in the background. Sweet flavour as well with more sweet caramel, leather, oak and a strange cigarette and cardboard ending. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. A sweet and interesting ale, but the flavour feels a bit unbalanced. Maybe over top.

.25l bottele from Alko Arkadia Pours couldy orange/copper with low head. Aroma is fruits, caramel, malts, dark fruits. Complex. Flavor is alcohol, dried fruits, caramel, red berries, dark fruits, plums, some bitternes in the end. Well balanced beer, but somehow a bit thinner flavor than in 2nd edition.

Draft at Churchkey. Hazy amber color. Aroma of spiced caramel. Taste is similar; not nearly as sweet as the others in this series (all tasted side by side).

Bottle #04297, brewed 20.12.2011, bbe 20.12.2016. A reddish brown beer with a very weak and blond head. The nose is complex, unique adn interesting. Richness of malts, sweet fruits and caramell, melon, marshmellow, strawberries, riped bananas. Taste is quite sweet but it’s not bothering, caramel malts, melon, lots of unspecified fruits, some drying bitterness. Full bodied, low carbonation, not heavy. Sake yeast has made the work and the result is a unique fruitmix. Interesting and succesfully, fruitful and sweet beer.
