UPDATED: JAN 20, 2013 250 ml bottle in silk paper and metal cylinder, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 12.5%. Sampled side by side with 2. edition. Deep reddish brown colour, clearer and slightly paler than the 2. edition, low off-white head. The aroma here is somewhat better, notes of red wine and red beets. The flavour is definitely better, vinous notes (fortified wine), hints of oak, nicely balanced bitterness in the finish. Warming mouthfeel, but slightly less alcoholic than 2. ed. Quite good stuff.

25 cl bottle Appearance: Light Hazy mahogany with little tan head, poor retention. Aroma: Sweet fruity tones. caramel and alcoholic. Taste: Heavy red fruity sweetness, sweet mals, light bitterness, however the aftertaste is lichees and quite long lasting. It’s a bit boozy but not annoying burning. above medium body, soft carbonation.

bottle at mondial 2014, mtl. pours unclear dark golden with a small off-white cap, little retention and lacing. booze and fruity doughy caramel, layers of it, spicy pepper, cloying sugars - demerara, a lot more pine and resin, also coffee grinds. low carbonation - micro-bubbles making there way in this dense concotion, full body - oily, syrupy and sticky, boozy and rough spicy-resinous finish. more resin and pine than 2nd edition. still.. swilly.

Blir litt for søt - men OK. Sødmen må nok tilskrives alkoholen - for ellers merkes den ikke.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Murky red. Intense sweetness. Alcohol, fruit, cordial. Very complex, daring to go new ways. Pleasant drinking, while not my everyday tipple.

[From my backlog, tasted @ Cimmeria and shared with David Lowenbrau]. Coppery colour with a quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma has strong notes of dry fruits, toffee and toasted sugar, some caramelish almonds are present. Flavor is mild sweet with liquor notes (sake), some cloying sensation on palate with spicy traces and ripe fruit. Very enjoyable.

Golden with a small white head. Lots of malt, a bit of light caramel, some nuttiness, some calvados, apples, pear, spirit. Taste is apricot, very sweet, some barrel age quality, quite heavy, but still refreshing, but still boozy, very complex.. a lot to it, bitterness is very evened out, some tropical fruit, but mostly pear, apricot and some faint citrus. Very good.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2014 25cl bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo.04-05-2014.
Shared with Teddybeer.
In short: a "dry sweet" ale. Pours hazy mahogany with little tan head. Short head retention, some lacing. Dry, sweet, liquor aromas. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is sweet, liquor, some dry notes. Sake character more noticed here than in 2nd edition. Dry, hot and spicy falvours leading to a dry aftertaste. Very enjoyable.
